About the Role

You will satisfy set learning goals and provide pathology transfusion services with competence in all aspects of Transfusion Science by compliance with relevant current Australian Standards, Legislation and following Haematology department and hospital policies

  • Work as part of a team to achieve high quality work and produce accurate and timely reports.

  • Classifications for this position will range from RY9 – RZ3 ($108,820.4 - $123,905.6 per annum)

Our expectation

The successful applicant will be required to participate in workload and workflow management of the Transfusion Laboratory following documented operating procedures, including:

  • Participation in immunohematology testing and blood component/product issue

  • Inventory control and budgetary compliance

  • Staff training and assessment of competency

  • Maintaining, evaluation and implementation of procedures and instrumentation as directed

  • Understanding, applying and implementing hemovigilance practices

Your Contribution

  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science or equivalent, AIMS accredited

  • 5 Years’ experience in a clinical/diagnostic transfusion laboratory

  • Exhibit excellence in Blood Transfusion Science

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proven history of effective leadership, training and development of staff

  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain, conducted by Victoria Police

St Vincent's Pathology is committed to the provision of a comprehensive, high-quality diagnostic and consultative pathology service for St Vincent's campuses, GPs and medical specialists in the Melbourne area.

Pathology services are centralised at SVH Fitzroy in Patient Services Building

About The Royal Children's Hospital

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
