Job Purpose and Impact
The Scientist, Fermentation and Biology will conduct basic research using fermentation assays and other biological models and analyses. They will develop procedures for understanding raw material properties such as those related to digestibility and mechanism of action and optimize existing processes and products. In this role, you will perform research as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan and execute experiments and effectively communicate results to stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
- Identify, research, and develop new methodologies based on business needs.
- Execute technical experiments individually or as part of a team.
- Conduct experiments with a high level of excellence to ensure precise and accurate data.
- Prepare samples for analysis and perform testing.
- Process and analyze experimental data.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports and presentations to communicate experimental outcomes as well as recommendations for future work.
- Maintain equipment and lab infrastructure in optimal working conditions.
- Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Able to work occasional weekend or non-routine hours as required
- Track record of demonstrating initiative, strong follow-through, and the ability to contribute effectively in a fast-paced research and development environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable science (Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Life Science, Food science, etc.)
- Minimum three years of relevant laboratory experience
- Experience with analytical techniques including HPLC, GC, ELISA, or other biochemical assays.
- Knowledge of animal digestive tract fermentation and microbial physiology
- Experience, willingness, and ability to work with biological samples

- This position is located in Elk River, MN
- The expected salary for this position is $53,000 - $70,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
