The Vegetable Seed Enhancement Team (VSET) is closely connected to the vegetable seed processing plants and services all Syngenta vegetable sites globally.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Scientist to join us and be a member of a multidisciplinary team embedded with a variety of stakeholders to support the global vegetable seeds business. You will lead well-defined projects to improve the process and the performance of vegetable seeds with a focus on developing new seed treatments, while being closely connected to seed processing plants to transfer new technologies to seed processing sites. Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing a strong knowledge of seed physiology and seed business.
  • Leading projects independently with varieties of stakeholders.
  • Designing and executing experiments.
  • Making data-based decisions timely and according to project timelines.
  • Actively taking part in the technology transfer and implementation process in the processing plants.

Qualifications

What we are looking for?

  • PhD degree preferably in plant science, or equivalent qualification /relevant experience.
  • Passion to work on the boundaries of plant biology/ /seed technology and operations.
  • Strong drive to deliver results and implement innovative technologies in an operational environment.
  • Demonstrated interest to find technical solutions for biological problems.
  • Good English language skills.
  • Willingness to continuous learning.
  • Strong team working and communication skills.

Desired skills

  • Basic command of the Dutch language or the drive to learn it on short term.
  • Relevant work experience in a commercial environment.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams in an international environment.
