Job Description

The Scientist – Analytical Chemistry position is responsible for generating, ensuring, and validating reliable analytical data for beverages and ingredients, as well as guaranteeing the integrity of laboratory analytical systems. This role actively contributes to technical decision-making within the LATAM R&D Center.

We are looking for a candidate with strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to translate data into meaningful insights.

Key Responsibilities

The Analytical Chemistry Scientist will be responsible for:

  • Executing, analyzing, and interpreting results from physicochemical and instrumental tests on ingredients and finished products, including but not limited to: MSDS, fats, proteins, pH, acidity, °Brix, preservatives, among others.

  • Ensuring the reliability, reproducibility, and integrity of analytical results through Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

  • Operating and managing analytical equipment, ensuring proper performance and leading troubleshooting activities.

  • Participating in the development, optimization, and/or transfer of analytical methods, as well as their verification or validation when applicable.

  • Leading or providing technical support in laboratory equipment release through verification activities.

  • Ensuring proper execution of calibration programs and preventive and corrective maintenance, managing deviations and corrective actions.

  • Ensuring that digital documentation and laboratory records meet traceability, data integrity, and audit requirements.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (R&D, pilot plant, quality, microbiology, suppliers), providing technical input for decision-making.

  • Identifying opportunities for improvement in analytical processes, operational efficiency, and data digitalization.

  • Participating as an internal auditor of the integrated management system.

Qualifications & Requirements

Technical Skills (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, food chemistry, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience, preferably in food or beverage.

  • Strong experience in physicochemical analysis and analytical techniques.

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety.

  • Knowledge of analytical instrumentation: principles, operation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

  • Experience in generating, analyzing, and interpreting analytical data.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in development, verification, or validation of analytical methods.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Knowledge of digital tools, database management, and data analysis.

  • Knowledge of food safety and quality systems.
