The Opportunity

You will be responsible for routine instrument QC, setup, and maintenance, as well as the operation of a broad range of conventional, spectral, and imaging flow cytometry analyzers and cell sorters, including systems from BD and Cytek. The role also includes user training, follow-up guidance, experimental consultation, panel design, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and data.

On a rotating basis, you will also support multiplex immunoassay services with responsibilities including but not limited to assay preparations, performing the assay, data analysis, instrument troubleshooting and maintenance, inventory management, and user communications. Assays are performed using semi-automated workflows that integrate liquid-handling systems with multiplex immunoassay platforms based on Luminex xMAP technology.

This is a technically focused role that also requires an understanding of scientific concepts and their applications.

This is a fully onsite position in South San Francisco.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in life sciences or a related field
• 4+ years of hands-on experience operating conventional/spectral flow cytometry analyzers.
• Experience with flow cytometry panel design (10+ colors) and optimization.
• Working proficiency with FlowJo and BD FACSDiva
• Demonstrated ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot flow cytometry instrumentation.
• Ability to consistently perform technical workflows accurately and deliver reliable results.
• Moderate amounts of walking and standing, as well as the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilites

• Experience operating cell sorters.
• Experience training others in flow cytometry.
• Experience demonstrating end-to-end flow cytometry workflows in a research setting, including experimental design, sample staining, data acquisition, analysis, and presentation of results to peers.
• Hands-on experience operating spectral and/or imaging flow cytometry analyzers (e.g. Cytek Aurora, Cytek Imagestream, BD Discover S8).
• Proficiency with Cytek SpectroFlo analysis software.
• Advanced flow cytometry instrumentation troubleshooting experience.
• Understanding of Luminex or other bead-based multiplex immunoassays.
• Experience with automated liquid-handling platforms.
• You are self-motivated and comfortable working independently while recognizing that teamwork is essential to the lab’s success.
• You are service-oriented and motivated by helping researchers successfully execute their experiments and achieve high-quality results.
• You communicate effectively and enjoy working with a large and diverse group of researchers.
• You are diligent, detail-oriented, and committed to performing your work accurately and consistently.
• You are flexible and responsive to changing experimental needs, including supporting experiments that may not always fit within a regular schedule.

The expected salary range for this position based on California is 85 500,00 - 158 700,00 USD Annual Annual Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
