This position will setup and operate a glass working operation to make glass cells for use in laser applications. The primary material will be borosilicate glass and quartz along with some more exotic glass window materials. Highly desirable is the ability to make glass to metal seals, create T intersections, flanges, and be able to attach laser grade windows without distortion of the surface flatness in the CA of the window. They will also operate and maintain a vacuum system capable of filling reference cells with a variety of gasses and metals. In addition, the successful candidate will become a key contributor to MBU by spending 20% of their time in an engineering or operations capacity.

Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:

  • General Glass Blowing Skills and Knowledge of Glass
  • Create Glass Cells with T intersections, flanges, and optical windows
  • Create Glass to Metal Seals is a Plus
  • Operation of a Glass Lathe
  • Create reference cells with gasses and metals
  • Partner with Design Engineers to Ensure Manufacturability of the Cell

In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for:

  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.

The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.

Physical Activities: Activities consistent with glass cell manufacturing which could involve sitting or standing for long durations and/or performing repetitious work. Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally. The noise level in the work environment is consistent is moderate

Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in making scientific glass cells or similar

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Glass Blowing
  • Glass Lathe
  • Materials Knowledge of Glass
  • MS Office
  • Ability to Work Independently
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Flexibility and Adaptability in a Fast-Paced and Dynamic Environment
  • Strong Commitment to Quality and Customer Service

Hourly pay range for this position is $ 26.50 $ 33.50 depending on experience
