SEK International School Catalunya is looking to hire a Science Teacher, with immediate availability.

Mission

Empowering students to become inquirers, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners through the exploration of biology, life processes, natural phenomena, environmental dynamics, and effective communication strategies.

Functions

• Attend department meetings and participate in collaborative planning sessions.
• Develop and implement teaching plans for the subject, and other areas within the department.
• Take part in standardizing assessment tasks.
• Contribute to curriculum research and improvement.
• Stay updated on the IB program guides taught.
• Cycle: MYP

Requirements

• Degree in Biology or Natural Sciences
• Teaching experience, preferably in one of the IB programmes (MYP and/or Diploma) in the areas of Biology and Geology
• English native speaker or native speaker level.
• Speaking Spanish and Catalan will be valued

• Plan effective classes and teaching sequences.
• Adapt teaching to the individual needs of students.
• Utilize various teaching methods and educational resources.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.

• Communicate clearly and effectively with students and colleagues.
• Establish trustful relationships with students and colleagues.

Teamwork:

• Willingness to collaborate with others, sharing information, knowledge, and experiences, and contributing to the achievement of common goals.
• Experience with educational laboratory practices to enhance classroom dynamics and promote the scientific method will be appreciated.

Digital & AI Competencies

• Required AI level: intermediate
• Specific AI tools required: Familiarity with AI-powered educational tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT) to support planning, differentiation, assessment, and student learning. Understanding of ethical AI use and academic integrity in an IB learning environment.
• Digital tools/ platforms for the role: Microsoft Office user. Experience with other educational platforms to enhance classroom dynamics and promote such tools with the team will be appreciated.

We offer

• Salary according to secondary school agreement
• Schedule: Monday to thursday 9:30-17:10 h; Friday 9:00-17:00
• Temporary contract
