Science Demonstrator – Science North Snowflake

$18.45 per hour

Science North is looking for Science Demonstrators for weekday, weekends, occasional evenings and summer availability. At the Science Centre, our staff (known as Bluecoats) on the Natural Sciences team inspire, engage, and educate visitors by delivering exciting science shows and workshops, focusing on the natural sciences and conservation. Bluecoats collaborate with experts to gain knowledge in various lab areas and develop creative, hands-on ways to share this knowledge with diverse audiences. If you have a passion for science and learning, we’ll teach you the science you need to know to be successful!

What You Bring:
• A passion for animals and an ability to WOW visitors in an immersive environment
• Comfort in handling native mammals, fish and vertebrates (e.g., snakes, turtles) and all manners of insects and invertebrates (e.g., snails, cockroaches).
• A keen interest in science with a willingness to learn and grow your knowledge
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well in a team environment
• Superior interpersonal skills and no reluctance in approaching unfamiliar people
• French would be an asset

This part-time position offers/requires flexible scheduling, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, some weekend availability is an absolute necessity. Science North provides services in both official languages. Fluency in English is required (non-negotiable) and fluency in spoken French would be an asset but not a requirement for this position.
