Job Description

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MDE Full or Temporary Approval (or ability to obtain) as a School Social Worker required.
  • Training in education and understanding of public school services and special education.
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills, software skills: Google Docs/Classroom, Excel.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified by the Michigan Department of Community Health, Board of Social Workers.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  • Ability to maximize technology for effective communication with students, staff and parents.
  • Ability to build professional and collegial relations with staff and parents.
  • Ability and desire to adapt, learn and grow as an educator.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention trained.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively collaborate with parents, educational staff and community agencies to coordinate programs and services for students.
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and Develop Behavior Intervention Plans for students with an IEP.
  • Participate in student evaluations, and write educationally beneficial IEPs with measurable goals/objectives for students.
  • Attend relevant IEP meetings and act as school 504 liaison.
  • Ability to provide effective services learning in a remote or brick and mortar teacher setting.
  • Ability to develop genuine and positive relationships with students.
  • Ability to address the goals and objectives for student growth and achievement for students assigned to your caseload.
  • Analyze data from Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Provide knowledge of outside agencies such as Easter Seals, Wrap Around Services, etc., to families with the ability to connect families to such agencies and effectively work with agencies to support students/families within the program.
  • Support students in crisis both in special education and general education environments.
  • Oversee and service students on your caseload through both individual and group/classroom service.
  • Provide ongoing communication to families.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and develop program processes/procedures.
  • Maintain school social worker therapy logs and other documentation as directed by your supervisor.
  • Complete Medicaid documentation for eligible students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Director of Student Support Services.
