Grand Forks, ND 58201Pay Range: $66,955.20 - $100,422.40The School Nurse Coordinator provides oversight for school and clinic nursing services, ensuring high-quality, evidence based care that supports student well being, academic success, and long term health. The role promotes health and safety by coordinating care, addressing actual and potential health concerns, and collaborating with families, staff, and healthcare providers. The Coordinator establishes performance standards, ensures compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements, and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external partners. Responsibilities include directing daily nursing operations, conducting performance evaluations, and recognizing staff contributions while supporting family and student capacity for adaptation, self management, and self advocacy.
Essential Job Functions:
Advises leadership of significant and/or unexpected variances. Demonstrates an understanding of the budget and assists leadership in keeping within fiscal parameters. Assists leadership in requests for capital expenditures.
Develops and implements short term goals and is responsible for measurable outcomes and effective use of resources. Responsible for program and service development in response to both internal and external stakeholders.
Participates in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and job descriptions. Serves as a resource for staff and physicians regarding policies, procedures, and practices. Carries out the hiring process for Manager-approved positions. Provides information and makes recommendations to the Manager on disciplinary action and separation-related decisions. Promotes continuous staff participation in the performance review process.
Completes reporting and record keeping requirements accurately and within established timelines. Monitors services for efficiency and accuracy by evaluating, initiating and participating in restructuring of current and new procedures, services, and/or programs.
Carries out time and attendance responsibilities according to established procedure. Coordinates staffing and scheduling duties in accordance with established procedure and practices.
Performs pain assessment and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedure.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Additional Responsibilities by Specialty Area:
Serves as a health resource and liaison for students, families, staff, and healthcare providers; provide short-term care for illness or injury; administer medications per policy; maintain dignity, privacy, and confidentiality; and ensure First Aid supplies are stocked and available.
Maintains accurate health records, immunization documentation, dental/nutrition histories, and individualized health plans; monitor immunization compliance; perform Mantoux testing; uphold FERPA, HIPAA, Head Start, and ND Board of Nursing standards; and ensure all health policies, procedures, and forms remain current.
Coordinates district health screenings, new student registration, and vaccination processes; secure annual standing orders; collaborate with Child Nutrition on dietary needs; and provide annual staff training on universal precautions, medication administration, wellness, and individualized health/action plans.
Oversees school nurses and conduct performance appraisals; build and maintain community health partnerships; and support districtwide health initiatives in alignment with Head Start Performance Standards and organizational expectations.
