Team: School Improvement Team

Job Family: Enabling CBG15

Salary: £62,011 - £69,636 per annum

Hours: 37 hours a week

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

Working in partnership with school leaders, governors, and other professionals, you will provide expert advice, challenge, and support to secure sustained improvement, particularly in schools requiring additional support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality school improvement support, advice, and challenge to headteachers, senior leaders, and governing bodies
  • Analyse performance data, inspection outcomes, and self-evaluation to identify priorities for improvement
  • Support schools to improve leadership, teaching, learning, curriculum, inclusion, and outcomes
  • Contribute to the local authority’s statutory responsibilities, including monitoring schools at risk of underperformance
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to implement effective improvement strategies
  • Support the development of strong leadership and governance across maintained schools and academies (where applicable)
  • Prepare high-quality reports and contribute to assessments, panels, and review processes

We are seeking an experienced and highly effective School Improvement Advisor to join our School Improvement team in Central Bedfordshire. You will play a key role in driving improvement across schools, ensuring high-quality education and strong outcomes for all children and young people. You will be an experienced headteacher with a strong track record of improving outcomes and supporting school improvement.

You will have:

  • Significant headship experience within a school or education context
  • In-depth knowledge of current inspection frameworks, accountability, and education policy
  • Proven ability to support and challenge senior leaders effectively
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive improvement
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills
  • A commitment to inclusion, equity, and high standards for all learners
