Job Description

We have an opportunity available for a School Emotional Wellbeing Worker to join the team at Beacon Counselling based in Stockport, SK1 3DL.

Hours: 37.5 weekly & 18.5 weekly contracts available (Fixed term until February 2027)

Salary: £14.15 per hour

Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for identifying and supporting the emerging mental health needs of children and young people to improve schools' understanding, awareness and effective use of local support. You will develop effective relationships within the mental health support team, other services and schools.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering direct support to children and young people in school settings
  • Working with staff in schools to improve their knowledge of local support and encouraging a whole-school approach to mental health and well-being
  • Working with schools to increase the emotional wellbeing capacity within schools
  • Make appropriate onward referrals as and when they are needed, in consultation with children and young people, school staff and families

Qualifications

Previous experience working with children and young people is essential for this role. You must have a recognised qualification in working with mental health and well-being or a significant experience supporting children and young people's emotional well-being and mental health. A CBT and EMHP qualification is desirable for this role.

We are looking for individuals with excellent communication skills who can engage effectively with a wide range of people and age groups, and build strong working relationships.
