What You'll Do
School Leadership & Culture
- Oversee daily school operations, including academics, student activities, security, and staffing.
- Set high standards and expectations for student achievement and behavior, and be accountable for results.
- Provide ethical, motivating leadership that reflects the cultural and community context of the school.
- Build responsive, effective systems so that all students, families, teachers, and staff are well supported.
- Create an orderly, motivating, and aspirational school culture where teaching, learning, and healthy relationships thrive.
- Develop and implement school policies.
- Maintain professional relationships with the board, donors, and local and national communities.
- Build strong, mutually supportive partnerships with families through clear communication and meaningful involvement.
Curriculum, Instruction & Student Support
- Drive high levels of student achievement through rigorous, engaging classes and implementation of the Instructional Framework.
- Implement consistent, data-driven strategies and support systems for students with the most challenging behaviors, responding in a way that is both preventive and therapeutic while protecting the learning of all students.
- Put student support systems in place that address academic and behavioral needs holistically, involving families, teachers, and all relevant staff.
- Participate in and monitor the Response to Intervention (RTI) process.
- Build partnerships with external organizations that enrich the school through service opportunities, life and cultural experiences, educational and support programs, and other resources.
Staff Development & School Improvement
- Lead the ongoing development of teaching staff through lesson observations, regular use of data, collaborative planning and inquiry, coaching and mentoring, and systematic use of formative assessment data to guide learning.
- Provide strategic leadership for school improvement and development.
- Coordinate professional development workshops for all staff.
- Interview, evaluate, and hire staff through established processes and without discrimination.
- Model connected, collaborative leadership and build positive working relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Take part in whole-school decision-making on policies, programs of study, teaching materials, resources, teaching methods, and student support.
Administration, Enrollment & Facilities
- Manage building-level budgets, expenses, and spending responsibly.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports to your supervisor.
- Develop and implement a marketing plan to recruit students and maintain enrollment.
- Oversee the admissions process, ensuring compliance with state charter law and the school's contract.
- Maintain school facilities and follow established procedures to resolve issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student and staff information and in all professional matters.
- Support Oakmont Education's academic goals and philosophy, and follow the policies, directives, and guidelines set by the management company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
- This is a full-time, in-person position based at the school location. Remote or hybrid work is not available.
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership preferred. Administrative certification is welcome but not required.
- 3–5 years' experience as a school leader with significant areas of responsibility preferred.
- A demonstrated record of success.
- Experience delivering professional development in areas of school improvement.
- A passion for improving educational opportunities for urban students and for building a strong, mission-driven organization.
- A passion for working with youth of various social, educational, and economic backgrounds and levels.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to go above and beyond to help students reach their academic goals.
- Proficiency with technology.
- Commitment to continued personal and professional growth and to Oakmont's mission, vision, and growth.
- Must complete a BCI/FBI background check.
