Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA)
is a community of high-performing public schools that utilizes a comprehensive approach to prepare students from preschool through high school for success in college and in life. We integrate academic rigor, community, family, and wellness to empower students to thrive in a culturally connected and changing world. Founded in 2000, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy students represent the neighborhood of MacArthur Park west of downtown Los Angeles, a community that is one of the most under-resourced and densely populated neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Currently, CNCA has six campuses that serve approximately 3,500 students from TK through 12th grade.

The Opportunity
Under the supervision of the Director of Student Experience, the School Counselor Residency Coordinatorwill play a vital role in supporting the success of residents and the School Counselor Residency Consortium. The SCRC will provide coaching support to individual residents, own recruitment and selection to attract high-quality resident and mentor candidates, and provide essential administrative support to ensure the program's success. The SCRC is a Camino Nuevo Charter Academy employee and supports all partners within the School Counselor Residency Consortium.
About School Counselor Residency
CNCA School Counselor Residency is led by Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, in partnership with Loyola Marymount University. Camino Nuevo High School #2, an LEA located in Los Angeles County, is pleased to submit this application for a School Counselor Residency Capacity Grant on behalf of the Camino Nuevo Charter Academy consortium of 2 LEAs. Our capacity-building project will create a new pipeline to the school counselor field. United by our common mission and vision of a world where all students are supported with the guidance, tools, and knowledge they need to thrive, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy and Loyola Marymount University will partner to build a pipeline of counselor development in Los Angeles.

As the lead member of the planning team, a primary responsibility is to oversee the day-to-day operational aspects of the residency program design, focusing on adapting the curriculum, fieldwork requirements, as well as identifying, enhancing, and creating professional development.
