School-Based Intake Clinician (Floating)

Full-Time | School Partnerships | Multiple Locations

Our School-Based Intake Clinicians are often the first point of contact for youth and families entering services — and your expertise helps set the tone for their entire treatment experience.

This floating role provides coverage across multiple school locations, offering variety in your day and the opportunity to build relationships throughout the district.

About the Role

As a School-Based Intake Clinician, you’ll complete diagnostic assessments, respond to urgent mental health concerns, and ensure students are quickly connected to the right level of care. You’ll collaborate with school staff, Prairie View providers, and community partners to create a smooth, student-centered admissions process.

Your work helps strengthen school–clinic partnerships and ensures families feel supported, informed, and understood from the very first interaction.

What You’ll Do

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical and diagnostic assessments.

  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning using evidence-informed practices.

  • Observe and evaluate student behavior, emotional functioning, and presenting concerns.

  • Collaborate with school staff, caregivers, and treatment teams to determine next steps.

  • Ensure recommendations align with Prairie View standards and managed care guidelines.

Age-Based Competencies

  • Assess developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs specific to school-aged children and adolescents.

  • Communicate effectively with youth, caregivers, and education professionals.

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and cultural sensitivity.

Administrative & Coordination

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.

  • Support a seamless, customer-focused admissions experience.

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external agencies.

  • Contribute insight to departmental planning and improvement efforts.

Performance Improvement & Team Engagement

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and department meetings.

  • Identify opportunities for more efficient processes and better student/family outcomes.

  • Help maintain a positive, collaborative work environment.

Professional Development

  • Engage in ongoing training, supervision, and continuing education.

  • Stay current on best practices in youth mental health, crisis care, and school-based services.



Qualifications

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll be successful in this role if you’re clinically strong, calm under pressure, and energized by partnership work. Requirements include:

  • Education: Master’s degree with clinical emphasis; QMHP required



  • Experience:
    3+ years in the mental health field preferred.

  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.

  • Skilled in crisis intervention and safety assessment.

  • Excellent communication — written, verbal, and interpersonal.

  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and community agencies.

  • Understanding of customer service principles and managed care processes.

  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to contribute to efficient departmental budgeting.

  • Schedule flexibility to support school and agency needs.

  • Proficient with basic computer and documentation skills.

  • Able to pass KBI and Adult/Child Central Registry screenings.
