We are seeking a driven, adaptable, and compassionate professional to serve as a School-Based Case Manager within our Opportunity Academy, an alternative school setting supporting 7th-12th grade students with complex behavioral, emotional, and environmental needs.
This role is designed for a true go-getter, someone who takes initiative, thrives in fast-paced and unpredictable environments, and remains steady and solutions-focused during crisis situations. The ideal candidate brings a trauma-informed approach to every interaction and is passionate about helping vulnerable youth succeed both in and out of the classroom.
What You’ll Do
Student Support & Case Management
- Provide direct case management services to students identified with behavioral health needs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service plans in collaboration with students, families, and school staff.
- Support students in building coping skills, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and social skills.
- Maintain consistent contact with students to ensure engagement and progress toward goals.
Crisis Response & Intervention
- Respond to behavioral and emotional crises within the school setting using de-escalation and trauma-informed strategies.
- Provide immediate support and stabilization during high-risk situations.
- Collaborate with school staff and clinical teams to ensure student safety and appropriate follow-up care.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree OR 4+ years of equivalent work experience working with youth (e.g., Behavioral Health Technician, Teacher, Para-Educator, Youth Worker).
- Previous case management experience preferred; experience working with children (ages 2–18) is highly helpful.
Skills & Core Competencies
- Crisis & Behavioral Management: Strong de-escalation and crisis management skills; comfortable working with and setting professional boundaries for children with mental illness.
- Adaptability: Ability to think quickly, problem-solve, and pivot priorities in high-pressure situations based on the needs of students and the organization.
- Approach: Committed to a trauma-informed approach when working with high-risk, vulnerable youth and diverse populations.
- Professionalism: Proven ability to build rapport while maintaining firm professional boundaries; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Operational Independence: Self-starter with high initiative, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize work and function independently.
- Collaboration: A team-oriented mindset dedicated to high-quality service delivery and collaboration.
- Technical Proficiency: A solid foundation in computer skills is required.

Requirements
- Licensure: Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
- Compliance: Ability to pass extensive background checks (including DCF).
- Flexibility: Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule as daily needs vary based on patients and school requirements.
