The University Community Services (UCS) Division focuses on providing campus-wide services that enhance and support the lives of students, staff, and families at OIST. UCS oversees a range of welfare and community services, including Language Education, the Child Development Center, the School Age Program, Educational Support Services, the Ganjuu Wellbeing Counseling Service, the Resource Center, Recreation, and Food Services.
The School-Aged Program (SAP) at OIST supports working parents by providing an environment where children from kindergarten through grade 6 can explore, discover, and collaborate in a respectful, inclusive setting during the out-of-school hours. The program promotes growth through guided learning and creative freedom, helping every child thrive. Staff work in pairs or teams (minimum of 2) to supervise a support unit of up to 40 children per Class.
For children attending local public elementary schools, SAP provides daily bus pick-up and drop-off, monitored by the SAP Classroom Staff to ensure safety.
The After School Program begins at 2:30 p.m. We encourage children to complete homework and enjoy a snack upon arrival. The program offers a library, crafts, board games, outdoor play, and activities tailored to children’s interests, promoting teamwork, creativity, and social skills in a fun environment.
During school holidays when OIST is open, SAP operates from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., offering field trips, hands-on crafts, science experiments, guest speakers, and special performances. These activities encourage creativity and exploration beyond the regular routine, balanced with quieter options like reading and personal projects in a relaxed atmosphere.

OISTの学童プログラム (School-Aged Program: SAP）は、就労する保護者を支援するため、幼稚園から小学校 6年生までの子どもたちが放課後の時間を安全に過ごせる環境を提供しています。子どもたちは、探求・発見・協働を通して成長できる、尊重とインクルージョンを重視した環境の中で過ごします。 1クラスの定員は 40名、スタッフは 2名以上のチームでクラスを担当します。
SAPは地域の公立小学校に通う子ども向けに送迎バスを運行しています。 SAPクラスルームスタッフがバスに添乗し、子どもたちの安全を見守ります。
アフタースクールプログラムは午後 2時 30分に始まります。子どもたちは到着後、宿題に取り組み、軽食を摂ったた後に読書、クラフト、ボードゲーム、屋外遊び、興味に応じたアクティビティを楽しみます。これらの活動はチームワークや創造性、社会性を育むことを目的としています。
学校休暇期間中（ OIST開館日のみ）は、午前 8時から午後 6時まで SAPを運営し、遠足、工作、科学実験、ゲストスピーカー、特別パフォーマンスなど、日常ではできない体験を提供します。読書や個別プロジェクトなどの静かな活動とバランスを取りつつ、創造性や探求心を伸ばす取り組みを行います。
