EXTRACURRICULAR JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: SCHOLARS Program Site Cook

Program: Boone County SCHOLARS – Students Changing Habits of Learning and Radiating Success

Term: Extended Day 25-30 Weeks Starts in August, 2026 and ends in May, 2027 during the 26-27 SY

Hours: 8 hours per week (2 Hours per day Monday-Thursday)

*Days may be added if funding is available

Compensation: Daily Hourly Rate

General Duties

The SCHOLARS Site Cook will oversee a feeding program for the Scholars after-school program.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with established menus and nutrition guidelines.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, food preparation area, equipment, and serving areas.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Receive, store, and rotate food and supplies using proper inventory and food handling procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of meals served, food temperatures, and other required documentation.
  • Practice portion control to minimize food waste and ensure adequate meal service.
  • Work cooperatively with school staff and after-school program personnel to ensure efficient meal service.
  • Follow Boone County Schools policies, procedures, and all applicable health department regulations.
  • Perform other duties related to food service as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager, Principal, or Supervisor.
  • Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Food service experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and the public.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks and training.

Certification

  • High School Diploma
  • Passed NOCTI Assessment
