
Schedules and plans all work for field forces in area of responsibility, coordinate activities between engineering and operations, ensure availability of materials, forecast future labor needs and coordinate outside resources needed to complete work.
Supervise and direct field personnel when operations supervisor is not available. Participate in on-call duty rotation on a regular basis. (40%) Manage the scheduling and coordination of all work, equipment and materials for field forces (depending on area this includes field services, meter shop gas and electric, construction crews gas and electric and maintenance crews gas and electric).
Continuously review work requests, determine relative priorities and provide service center management with information and direction needed to effectively respond to work requests. (30%) Plan and forecast future workload, labor requirements, equipment requirements and material requirements. (10%) Monitor and administer department budget. (5%)
Maintain contact and coordination with customers and developers. (5%) Provide technical input and assistance with project planning. (5%) Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%) Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or technical field. (Typically six years of related, progressive related work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) Six years of related utility experience. Experience with work management information systems. Experience in department budgeting or accounting. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. This position is subject to Department of Transportation mandated drug testing, including but not limited to random drug testing.
