Assist with surgical patient care in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements

• High School diploma.
• Medical terminology or experience in health care related field preferred.
• Perioperative Care
• The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently. Standard patient care equipment for services provided. Network computer system, Meditech Computer System.
• A Surgery Unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age> ninety-nine plus years of age.
• Able to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
• Able to sit for up to twelve hours a day.
• Able to work at computer station for up to twelve hours.

Key Results

• Schedules cases accurately.
• Communicates changes in schedule to the OR Desk.
• Reviews patient charges, makes inquiries regarding discrepancies or missing charges.
• Enters patient charges accurately and completely.
• Reviews patient documentation, makes inquiries regarding discrepancies or missing documentation.
• Documents accurately and timely and verifies cases.
• Assist in process for tissue tracking according to Joint Commission standards.
• Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communications and special assignments.
• Uses critical thinking skills to coordinate activities in the scheduling area, identifies issues and makes recommendations for improvement and efficiency.
• Assist with training of new hires.
• Collaborates with appropriate health care team members to help coordinate the delivery of patient care in a timely manner.
• Maintains work environment and organizes unit.
