Interventional Radiology
Location: University of Oklahoma Medical Center, Interventional Radiology
Shift: Full-Time 40hrs/wk, 10hr Shifts M-F with rotating day off
The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for maintaining the schedule for all surgeries, quality assurance processes, and compiling department statistical reports.
Essential Responsibilities

Coordinates the scheduling of all surgeries, taking into consideration such information as the desired date, priority of surgery, length of surgery, etc., to ensure the efficient use of surgery suites and staff.
Maintains a paper 7-day surgery schedule to safe guard against computer down time.
Notifies all necessary parties when changes must take place.
Prints and distributes surgery schedules daily as needed.
Extensive customer relations’ responsibility in coordinating schedules with physicians.
Utilizes Patient Electronic Medical Record system to compile data and reports as needed. Quality Assurance statistics and creates daily reports related to efficiency of Surgical Department.
Checks for physician orders and attaches order to patient medical record to ensure that patients are receiving appropriate care.
Communicates professionally with physicians and physician office staff to ensure appropriate documentation is in place.
Works closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments in effort to maintain a teamwork approach.
Demonstrates knowledge of occurrence reporting systems and utilizes systems to report potential patient safety issues.
Assists in resolving patient concerns.

Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience Requirements
At least 1 year of experience in surgery scheduling required.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements
None Required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements
Advanced communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in an effective manner and communicate information calmly.
Ability to use a surgery scheduling system.
Ability to work under stress.
Advanced computer skills with knowledge of computer scheduling applications and Electronic Medical Record system.
Establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations.
Advanced ability to work effectively with other employees, patients, and external parties.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures, and systems.
