SCAT Engineer (II), Johnson Matthey, Inc., Wayne, PA:
Design new test methods, evaluate complex testing, and trouble shoot advanced analytical equipment. Perform routine and non-routine testing to characterize the properties, function, or composition of catalytic materials or materials of catalytic interest. Provide direct support with Clean Air and Clean Air Solution teams to ensure SCAT capability meets customer requirements. Provide support to the SCAT team and coach within multiple testing areas in the laboratory. Guide senior staff with developing best practice testing protocols for lab and equipment. Provide technical expertise to quality labs. Lead instrument designs including data acquisition and control systems. Install corrective engineering measures and full testing protocols for all safety systems. Lead all Job Safety Analysis activities for CAPEX projects and ensure completion to maintain budgets. Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 2 years of related work experience.
Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in all of the following:
Utilizing knowledge of instrumentation and catalysis to solve technical issues including identifying working Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) units, performing calibration of Mass Flow Controllers and using Statistical Process Control applications to monitor instrumentation health and detect deviations;
Utilizing National Instruments Lab-view control software and I/O systems;
Designing and fabricating reactor systems for characterizing durability and activity of heterogeneous catalysis;
Using complex analytical instrumentation including FTIR, mass flow, and controllers to analyze O2, Nox, and other gasses during testing for catalytic activity;
Applying principles of thermodynamics, transport phenomena, and chemical kinetics to evaluate and optimize catalyst performance;
Project management experience including driving CAPEX projects to completion; and
Utilizing advanced statistics to drive desired results and quality for advanced analytical equipment.
