The Scale Operator will be responsible for scale operations, customer service, and communications. The Scale Operator will collaborate with the other members of the team to work toward operational goals while maintaining quality and efficiencies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operating the scale, which includes weighing and grading inbound and outbound grain to issue scale tickets.
  • Ability to run daily reports, administer cross-checks of scale equipment, and maintain customer relationships
  • General housekeeping and upkeep of the working areas, including sweeping, vacuuming, and sanitation.
  • Must have open availability to work a flexible schedule when production requires, including the ability to work entire shift, extended shift hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Other duties assigned.



Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge, Education, and Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Communication over Z way radio
  • Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required.
  • An agricultural background is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Basic knowledge of working with a computer and the ability to understand the grain and ticket system
  • Good work ethic (team environment, both safe and of high quality), efficient, and willingness to perform all required work with good attendance.

Physical Requirements necessary to perform this job

  • Must be able to move freely throughout the scale room, including walking, standing, and sitting
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs
  • Occasionally required to off-grade grain
  • Required to wear protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses, protective footwear, gloves, coveralls, and other PPE when outside
