This position is located in the Department of Administration's SC Safe Homes Division.
Job Purpose:
The Program Assistant will provide technical and professional services relating to the SC Safe Home Program and the related initiatives set forth in the Omnibus Coastal Property Insurance Reform Act of 2007. These programs have significant impacts on the safety, sustainability and resilience of single family structures.
Job Functions:
Efficiently processes and monitors SC Safe Home online applications for eligibility and compliance.
Provides customer service, coordinates multiple tasks and maintains strong working relationships using excellent technical and communication skills.
Responds to public and program stakeholder inquiries re. the SC Safe Home Grant Program and related 2007 Insurance Reform Act initiatives.
Represents the program at outreach events, sharing materials and answering customer questions.
Under daily, routine supervision, provides technical and professional services for SC Safe Home Program.
Performs other related duties as required by the Supervisor.
A high school diploma & relevant program experience. Bachelor's degree may be substituted for required program experience.
Requires a proactive, analytical and self-motivated professional with over two years of experience in public or business administration who can work effectively & independently & as an enthusiastic team player.
Knowledge of residential construction & home insurance.
Must be able to operate & maintain computer for extended periods of time.
Ability to interpret & apply SC laws, regs, policies & procedures relevant to SC Safe Home Grant Program.
Ability to organize, prioritize & complete tasks timely & accurately with limited supervision.
Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships, have strong comp. skills & operate spec. computer programs.

Disaster Response
This position is considered essential in the event of an emergency or major disaster. Incumbent is required to participate in emergency or major disaster response activities as outlined in the DOI Disaster Response Plan. During such times, the incumbent should regard himself/herself as being on 24-hour call and subject to duty when such an event occurs or is anticipated to occur.
