OF THE JOB:
Reporting to the Manager of the Small Business Loan Center (“SBLC”), the incumbent is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and decisioning credit risk in high volume of both new and existing Small Business customers. The incumbent will need to exercise objective reasoning and use sound judgment to determine compliance with credit policies and acceptable risk tolerance. Credit decisions will be made in accordance with an assigned credit limit commensurate with demonstrated proficiency. The position requires the ability to work in a responsive customer-focused environment that is sensitive to the needs of both internal and external clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Using commercial credit scoring models and prudent personal judgment, the position involves making sound decisions or recommendations to the SBLC manager regarding loan structure, collateralization, risk rating and overall creditworthiness in order to facilitate lending decisions.
• Commit to, and work diligently toward, arriving at a decision on each loan submitted within a reasonably acceptable timeframe.
• Thoroughly investigates all available sources of credit information to ensure accuracy and completeness of analysis and underwriting.
• Exercise financial knowledge by analyzing tax returns, reviewing debt schedules, and personal financial statements to perform financial statement spreading, cash flow analysis, and prepare analysis of the financial performance and condition of prospective Small Business, C&I or CRE Borrower
• Provide exceptional customer service in collaborating with Branch Managers and Business Banking Officers to process all applications for a credit decision and obtain financial information when necessary.
• Collaborate with all associated teams internally and externally to coordinate appraisals, environmental reports, closings and portfolio management activities.
• Keeps abreast of current developments in small business lending, including the United States Small Business Administration (“SBA”) Programs, as well as regulatory compliance areas.
• Adhere to Liberty Bank’s Commercial Lending Policy.
• Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field or equivalent professional work experience.
• One to two years of credit underwriting experience with a focus on small business lending.
• Ability to work well independently and with others in a fast-paced, team- oriented environment
• Attention to detail with a focus on delivering quality results
• Solid organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
