Job Summary:

A Small Business Administration (SBA) Closing Advisor should demonstrate commitment to delivering distinctive service. This position will be responsible for in conjunction with sales, credit, legal, and closing teams to foster a culture where client experience, on-time delivery, and risk management are of equal importance. This role advises and partners with clients regarding the closing process, required documentation, making eligibility determinations under SBA and USDA regulations, and accessing compliance with conditions of credit and closing approval. The SBA Closing Advisor engages Financial Advisors and other team members, as appropriate, to ensure timely closing and compliance with legal, agency, and banking regulations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide distinctive service to clients and prospects, in person and over the telephone. Respond to client inquiries and satisfactorily resolve client issues. Support firm-wide achievement of the three-ring standard (all phones answered by a live person within three rings). Adhere to and comply with Bank policies, procedures, applicable state and federal laws, and regulatory guidance. Stay abreast of applicable laws, regulations and procedures related to SBA and USDA lending to manage documentational risk of the firm. Participate in required training to assist in the identification, detection and determent of money laundering or other unlawful activities. Required regulatory training includes, but is not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Client Identification Program (CIP), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Advise parties involved in all aspects of the loan closing function. This includes but is not limited to reviewing loan approvals/commitment letters to properly coordinate, prepare, review, and approve all due diligence, compliance processes, and documentation required to close the government-guaranteed loan and ensure it meets government regulations as well as internal policies and requirements. Prepare SBA Guaranty packages for approval. Partner with external legal counsel to order, review, approve, and reconcile all preliminary title insurance, searches, and loan closing package documentation to ensure compliance with regulations and firm policy. Communicate updates related to closing requirements and/or related issues to internal (i.e. sales/credit teams) and external (i.e. legal counsel, borrowers/sellers) partners, as applicable. Use professional knowledge and expertise to ensure a plan of action is developed and executed successfully in a compliant and timely manner. Coordinates the execution of loan and transaction documentation for all relative parties. Prepares and confirms proper booking of each closed loan and initial funding packages. Oversees and maintains updates for the pipeline of approved loans scheduled for closing and manages each closing and related operational workflow of the department. Ensure all exceptions are cleared in a timely manner. Meet all the client's financial needs, both business and personal, and refer clients to other specialty areas such as Trust, Investments, Insurance, Treasury Management, etc. as appropriate. Assist other team members as needed to ensure delivery of distinctive service. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent -- College degree is preferred.

Minimum Experience: Minimum of 10 years' experience in financial services.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of federal banking regulations and compliance. Knowledge of SBA SOP and processing requirements, USDA program parameters. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or related software. Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving ability with a strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and prioritize daily tasks. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy. Excellent client service skills. Tact and diplomacy in dealing with both clients and team members. The physical activities of this job include but are not limited to the ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time, use of manual dexterity, verbal communication, visual acuity, repetitive motion, and the ability to hear. Often long periods of mental concentration are required. Other activities are the ability to bend, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, lift, and grasp.
