Position Title: Saturday School Program Facilitator

Reports to: Building Principal or Designee

Stipend: As set forth in Article VIII.D (“Stipends”) of the Proviso Teachers Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2028). Please see the stipend schedule on the District website or view it directly here:

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience or Training

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Administrative Endorsement

Desired Experience or Training

Experience supervising credit recovery, summer school and/or after-school tutoring programs

Experience tutoring students in a one-on-one or small group setting

Schedule

Saturdays (dates and hours determined by building principal)

Position Goals

To oversee the effective operation of the Saturday School Credit Recovery Program by coordinating staffing, facilities, and student services; ensuring accurate record-keeping and communication with instructional and administrative staff; and supporting student progress toward academic recovery and graduation readiness.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide general supervision for the Saturday School Program, including: coordinating scheduling of classrooms/facilities; ensuring availability of approved credit recovery teachers and tutors; arranging for approved substitutes, if needed, for absent credit recovery teachers and/or tutors; coordinating with supervising deans regarding Saturday School disciplinary study halls.
  • Assist credit recovery teachers and tutors in tracking student participation and collaborating with teachers and counselors.
  • Maintain accurate records and report data related to program participation and effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as directed by the Building Principal.

Work Environment & Expectations

Work is performed in a typical school classroom or designated tutoring space. Tutors are expected to maintain a professional, student-focused atmosphere and adhere to all District policies regarding confidentiality, conduct, and instructional integrity.

Physical and Mental Demands

Must be able to move between classrooms or tutoring locations. Requires the ability to engage in prolonged periods of concentration, interact effectively with students and staff, and manage multiple tasks. Reasonable accommodations may be made in accordance with applicable laws.

This hourly position is a non-tenure, extra-duty assignment contingent upon sufficient student enrollment, program approval, and available funding. It is not subject to continued renewal and

may be discontinued at the district's discretion. This position is exempt from overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Stipends are not calculated based on hours worked and are considered payment for duties performed outside the regular instructional day. Subject to satisfactory criminal background clearance and drug screening as required by Illinois School Code and District policy. This is an at-will, extra-duty appointment and may be discontinued at the District’s discretion.
