About PwC SATIC and the role
As a Data Analyst/Engineer within PwC SATIC's Financial Innovation team, you will contribute to the delivery of reporting, analytics, and digital innovation solutions that drive measurable improvements across the Finance function. You will work closely with Finance stakeholders across FP&A, Record-to-Report, and management reporting to support process improvement, standardisation, and digital enablement initiatives, assist in documenting data and reporting requirements, and participate in cross-functional delivery to produce scalable Power BI dashboards, automation solutions, and data products that enable smooth implementation and adoption.
Working alongside the Finance Innovation Lead, Finance Transformation Lead, Finance Reporting Lead, and Technology (Tech Cat), you will help Finance leverage emerging technologies, data, and automation to deliver more predictive, connected, and agile insight. Your work will support efforts to streamline Finance processes, reduce duplication, and simplify the user experience, while contributing to the piloting and embedding of new tools and capabilities including automation, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled solutions. You will apply best practices in reporting, analytics, and data governance, maintain documentation of innovative initiatives and use cases, help track adoption and impact of delivered solutions, and support Finance teams through training, knowledge sharing, and change enablement.
Requirements include strong Power BI, DAX, and advanced Excel skills; experience with data analysis and SQL-based environments including Databricks; the ability to contribute to projects end-to-end from scoping through to implementation; commercial awareness of how Finance supports business decision-making; and the ability to translate business requirements into practical technology and process solutions. Experience with Power Platform, familiarity with data governance standards, and a relevant finance qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, or ACA are preferred.
Qualifications /
Certifications required:
- Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems or Economics); Honours/Master’s is advantageous.
- A relevant professional finance qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, or ACA is preferred.
- Formal project management qualification or certification (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum certification) is advantageous.
- Desirable (not required) certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)
- Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Fundamentals (PL-900) or Power Platform Functional Consultant Associate (PL-200)
- Databricks Lakehouse Fundamentals (foundational badge) or Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) or Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)
Experience required:
- 3+ years' experience contributing to the delivery of Finance reporting and analytics products, including the design, build, and rollout of scalable Power BI dashboards and insight solutions across Finance processes such as FP&A, Record-to-Report, and management reporting, supporting measurable improvements in efficiency, insight quality, and stakeholder adoption.
- Project and delivery support: assist in scoping initiatives with Finance stakeholders, contribute to work breakdowns and estimates, support backlog and sprint management, track progress against milestones, maintain RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies) logs, and coordinate across Finance, Technology (Tech Cat), and cross-functional teams to support predictable delivery outcomes aligned to the Financial Innovation team's digital agenda.
- Stakeholder engagement: participate in requirements sessions with Finance teams, help define KPIs and success criteria, support UAT coordination, contribute to status updates and summaries, and build effective working relationships across Finance, Technology, and business teams to ensure reporting products meet evolving needs.
- Product and backlog contribution: contribute to the vision and roadmap for assigned Finance data and reporting products, assist in defining and refining requirements as clear user stories with acceptance criteria, and support the evaluation of product effectiveness to help maximise business value.
- Analytics and BI delivery: design and build Power BI reports and dashboards with sound data models and optimised DAX measures, including time intelligence, iterator functions, and complex calculated measures for Finance reporting; ensure performant dashboards, consistent visual standards, and clear metric definitions; apply advanced Excel for analysis, prototyping, and financial modelling.
- SQL and data preparation: conduct data extraction, joins, and aggregations to support Finance reporting; maintain query quality and performance; work with SQL-based environments including Databricks to ensure reliable, governed data sources underpin all reporting products.
- Data analysis and insight: interrogate, cleanse, validate, and interpret large and complex Finance datasets to derive meaningful insight; conduct detailed analysis to support decision-making, identify trends, validate data quality, and underpin reporting accuracy; translate business questions into clear KPIs, narratives, and actionable recommendations.
- Data quality and controls: implement validation checks and reconciliations across Finance reporting products, document assumptions, business rules, and metric definitions, support change control for datasets and measures, and maintain audit-ready records that meet firmwide governance standards.
- Piloting and embedding new tools and technologies: contribute to the identification, piloting, and implementation of emerging technology solutions including automation, advanced analytics, AI-enabled reporting tools, and Power Platform capabilities (Power Automate, Power Apps) to improve Finance processes and insight.
- Documentation and knowledge management: maintain comprehensive documentation of Finance data products, innovation initiatives, use cases, solution designs, data dictionaries, user guides, and change logs to support adoption, continuous improvement, and knowledge transfer across Finance teams.
- Training, adoption, and change enablement: support the adoption of new reporting products and data tools across Finance, contribute to training sessions, create user documentation, gather and incorporate user feedback, assist in tracking adoption metrics, and help quantify the impact and efficiency gains of delivered solutions.
- Governance and standards: ensure all reporting and data products comply with firmwide governance, security, data management, and access control standards; apply approved connectors, sensitivity labelling, and least-privilege access principles; raise and help resolve compliance concerns early.
- Process improvement and automation: identify opportunities for workflow and reporting automation across Finance activities, including refresh scheduling, distribution, and alerting; support standardisation and digital enablement efforts, and assist in tracking adoption and efficiency gains.
- Communication and escalation: provide transparent status updates to the Finance Innovation Lead and relevant stakeholders, flag risks and dependencies early, document decisions and trade-offs, and maintain stakeholder confidence through consistent, reliable delivery aligned to PwC SATIC's Financial Innovation team's priorities and the firm's broader growth agenda.
Responsibilities of role:
- Contribute to advancing the Financial Innovation team's reporting and analytics offering by building and maintaining reusable Power BI templates, DAX measure libraries, and documentation; support Finance teams in their use and promote adoption across the function.
- Ensure alignment with firmwide Finance and Technology (Tech Cat) standards for reporting, governance, and delivery; participate in quality reviews of dashboards and data models and contribute feedback to evolve best practices.
- Support Finance reporting and analytics initiatives end-to-end: assist in refining requirements with stakeholders, contribute to scope estimation, perform data preparation using SQL, Databricks, and Power Query, and deliver performant Power BI dashboards; support rollout and user adoption activities.
- Assist in the build and maintenance of curated Finance datasets and reporting solutions; apply data quality checks, validation, and clear business definitions; contribute to monitoring and ongoing support activities.
- Conduct data analysis and process improvement studies across Finance processes; help quantify opportunities, support actions to streamline workflows and reduce duplication, and assist in tracking outcomes.
- Build and maintain workflow automations and operational enhancements using Power Platform and approved tools, including refresh alerting and report distribution; support measurement of adoption and impact.
