About PwC SATIC and the role
PwC’s South African Technology & Innovation Centre (SATIC) provides critical support to global PwC teams, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and upholding the highest standards of ethics and independence. As a Corporate Independence and Ethics & Business Conduct Analyst (Associate Level), you will play a vital role in safeguarding the firm’s reputation by supporting engagement teams, reviewing compliance
documentation, and contributing to risk mitigation across three key sub-processes: SEC Performance, JBR and PCAOB Performance
This role is central to PwC’s independence and compliance processes, with responsibilities spanning core areas:
· SEC Performance: Conducting first-cut reviews of engagement letters to secure Authorization of Service (AFS), ensuring all proposed services comply with Independence (NRMP 21) and SEC rules. You will detect and address impermissible services, provide guidance to engagement teams, and help mitigate regulatory and reputational risks.
· JBR and PCAOB Performance: Supporting the review and clearance of independence queries under Joint Business Relationships (JBR) and PCAOB rules, including PCAOB Rule 3526. You will assess business relationships, confirm compliance, and recommend safeguards or escalate issues as needed.
Qualifications /Certifications required:
· Tertiary education in Business, Law, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related field · Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks (SEC, PCAOB, NRMP 21) is advantageous
· Willingness to undertake compliance and ethics training as required
Experience required:
· Experience in compliance, risk management, audit, or regulatory review roles is advantageous
· Exposure to reviewing contracts, engagement letters, or compliance documentation
· Experience working in a professional services or multinational environment is a plus
Responsibilities of role:
SEC Performance:
· Conduct first-cut reviews of engagement letters to secure Authorization of Service (AFS), ensuring compliance with Independence (NRMP 21) and SEC rules
· Detect and address impermissible services, providing guidance to engagement teams on compliance requirements
· Manage the EMEA/UK queue for AFS allocation, including preliminary assessments and clarifying scope with engagement teams
· Determine whether AFS requires review by an Independence specialist or analyst
JBR and PCAOB Performance:
· Support JBR and PCAOB specialists in reviewing and clearing independence queries
· Review declared relationships for PCAOB audits, ensuring compliance with Rule 3526 and escalating issues as needed
· Assess Joint Business Relationships for independence risks and recommend appropriate safeguards
