~~Job Title: Positive Pay Teacher Aide for Adult Education

Supervisor: Principal

Terms of Employment: 185 days

Job Summary

To support school administration and faculty in providing appropriate services to non-English speaking students and in communicating with the parents and guardians of these students.

Essential Duties

1. Provide support to English language learners in mainstream and ESOL classes.
2. Serve as liaison between teachers and parents of English language learners.
3. Translate oral and written communication between schools and families.
4. Serve as liaison between school and non-English speaking community.
5. Serve as liaison between school and appropriate translation providers.
6. Facilitate completion of paperwork for non-English speaking students.
7. Collect records and maintain files for ESOL students.
8. Administer placement test to non-English speaking students.
9. Participate in in-service training programs, as needed.
10. Assist teachers by locating, preparing and organizing instructional materials.

• Assumes other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the District's policy on the Evaluation of Classified Personnel.

Must meet the requirements for a paraprofessional which includes one of the following:

• Minimum of 60 college credit hours, or an Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited college/university (Attach a copy of your transcript) or
• Paraprofessional certificate (minimum score of 456 on the exam), (Attach a copy of your test scores) or
• Passed all 4 areas of Work Keys. (Attach a copy of all 4 test results)

Additional physical requirements include the following:

• Physically capable of frequently lifting or moving up to 40 pounds;
• Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus;
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
• Manual dexterity for the purpose of using a telephone and data entry;
• Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;
• Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; and
• Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone.
