Telespazio Belgium can count on more than 45 years of experience in the field of Space Operations Service & Engineering activities. Telespazio Belgium is currently looking for a Satellite Operations Engineer to join our team based in ESEC, in Belgium performing a Service to ESA.

Candidates must be eligible for a security personal clearance from an EU Member State national security administration

What is expected from you:

  • The successful candidate will be immediately involved in the daily operations of the Proba missions and will progressively participate in the implementation of new projects led by the European Space Agency (ESA).
  • The candidate will join a dedicated team of four professionals operating under the supervision of a team leader. While the team functions independently, it maintains daily interactions and close collaboration with ESA staff on site, ensuring alignment with mission objectives and operational standards.
  • The candidate will coordinate and lead multidisciplinary project activities to ensure smooth and timely mission operations. Review technical documentation and maintain accurate, up to date flight and operational procedures. She/He will conduct routine and contingency spacecraft operations, including telemetry monitoring, commanding, and ground station coordination. Develop automation scripts and tools in Linux environments to optimize operational workflows. Will also operate and maintain mission control systems (e.g., SCOS 2000), supporting system configuration, testing, and integration.
  • Detect, investigate, and resolve operational anomalies in collaboration with subsystem experts.
  • Apply orbital mechanics and RF systems knowledge to support mission planning, maneuver preparation, and communication troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share expertise across the operations team.

What you offer

  • Master's degree or equivalent qualification, ideally Engineer in electronics/electro/automation - mechanics or technical field sector – aerospace physics
  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain Security clearance from EU country.
  • Skilled in reviewing and synthesizing technical documentation to support project initiation and planning.
  • Proficient in scripting and programming within Linux environments to support task automation and system integration.
  • Solid understanding of spacecraft mission procedures, contributing to operational readiness and mission success.
  • Familiar with ground segment infrastructure and operations, including telemetry, tracking, and command systems.
  • Experienced in streamlining and optimizing routine operational processes through automation.
  • Competent in maintaining and evolving flight procedures to ensure consistent and reliable operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to the investigation and resolution of operational anomalies.
  • Knowledgeable in mission control infrastructure, including SCOS-2000, MIB databases, and simulation tools.
  • Understanding of orbital dynamics and its practical application in satellite mission planning and operations.
  • Familiar with radio frequency systems and technologies used in space communications.
  • Over 5 years of hands-on experience in satellite operations or closely related technical domains.

Where

You will be working within ESEC, the European Space Agency’s offices in Belgium as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium. We don’t expect the employees to be on-site full time however you will still have to relocate to Belgium for this position
