The SAP Systems Architect is responsible for the strategic design, architecture, implementation, and continuous optimization of SAP solutions supporting end-to-end business operations. This role serves as the technical and functional authority for SAP capabilities, ensuring solutions are scalable, integrated, secure, and aligned with business objectives. The SAP Systems Architect partners closely with business leaders, IT teams, and third-party service providers to define technology roadmaps, drive enterprise-wide process improvements, and deliver high-value SAP initiatives. The role also provides leadership and oversight of offshore development and support resources to ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery of solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the SAP solution architect for assigned functional domains, providing strategic direction for SAP design, configuration, integration, and optimization across business processes.
  • Lead the architecture, design, and deployment of SAP modules dependent on area of focus.
  • Define and maintain SAP solution standards, governance processes, and architectural best practices to ensure scalability, stability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to evaluate requirements, design future-state solutions, and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and business performance.
  • Provide deep functional and technical expertise in SAP supply chain processes, ensuring alignment between business objectives and system capabilities.
  • Lead end-to-end SAP initiatives, including solution architecture, scope definition, technical design, development oversight, testing strategy, deployment planning, and post-production support.
  • Oversee system integrations and enterprise process design across Supply Chain, Finance, Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, and external business partners.
  • Manage and direct offshore contractors, consultants, and development resources, including work prioritization, solution review, quality assurance and delivery accountability.
  • Review and approve functional and technical specifications, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and business requirements.
  • Lead issue resolution efforts, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate cross-functional teams to maintain system performance and operational continuity.
  • Establish and oversee testing strategies, including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), regression testing, and deployment validation.
  • Develop and maintain solution documentation, architecture diagrams, process flows, technical standards, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business and IT leadership by recommending technology investments, process improvements, and SAP roadmap opportunities.
  • Evaluate emerging SAP technologies, S/4HANA capabilities, and industry trends to support innovation, modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of SAP functional, solution architecture, or enterprise systems experience.
  • SAP certification(s) preferred.
  • Experience leading SAP S/4HANA implementations, upgrades, or transformation programs.
  • Experience managing third-party vendors, system integrators, and offshore development teams.
  • Strong understanding of SAP integrations, including EDI, middleware platforms, third-party logistics systems, manufacturing applications, and external planning tools.
  • Experience with reporting, analytics, and data visualization solutions such as SAP BI, SAP BW, SAP Analytics Cloud, or equivalent platforms.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proven experience serving as a solution architect or technical lead for SAP implementations and enhancements.
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end supply chain business processes and enterprise system architecture.
  • Strong leadership experience directing cross-functional teams, consultants, and offshore resources in a global delivery model.
  • Ability to balance strategic architecture planning with hands-on solution design and execution.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP integration frameworks, data flows, and system interoperability.
  • Demonstrated project leadership experience managing multiple concurrent initiatives from concept through deployment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and executive presentation skills.

Pay range: $156k-$170K plus benefits
