SAP FI PS Specialist

Location: Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, South Africa

Reporting: SAP Finance Team Lead

Function: Copper FSS: Information Systems

JOB PURPOSE:

The SAP Finance and Project Systems (FIPS) Specialist will be responsible for the successful implementation, configuration, and maintenance of SAP FIPS solutions. This role requires deep technical knowledge of SAP FIPS, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to optimize financial processes. The FIPS Specialist plays a pivotal role in the Information Systems organization, working closely with business decision makers and end users to analyse information and document business requirements and map to SAP business processes.

The FIPS Specialist supports change management activities related to projects, upgrades, and enhancements, communicating changes and benefits to stakeholders to promote adoption and ensure minimal disruption to operations.

PRIMARY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership and Strategy: Determine complex business requirements (e.g., Functional and Technical, information needs, business processes) through information-gathering sessions.
  • System Configuration and Optimization: Responsible for the configuration of SAP FIPS modules to meet business requirements. Optimize SAP FIPS processes and system performance to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SAP FIPS functionality and integration.
  • Global harmonized solution: develop solutions to promote adoption of harmonized ways of working across regions and assets while catering for local processes and jurisdictional compliance items. Negotiate agreement of effective global solutions.
  • Process improvement: Analyse business processes and identify opportunities for improvement using SAP FIPS functionalities. Implement best practices and process improvements paying careful attention to detail.
  • Communication and Collaboration: collaborate effectively and provide leadership to ensure alignment across the organization.
  • Training: provide training and support to end-users, key stakeholders, and IS teams on FIPS functionalities, processes and best practices. Support development of documentation including user manuals, configuration guides, and training materials.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to solution architecture. Continuously enhance skills and knowledge to remain effective in the role
  • The FIPS Specialist is business-oriented and operates across the organization to ensure that communication flows horizontally to and from upstream and downstream processes and teams.
  • This position operates within a broad community of practice that spans operational, technical and change management groups through regular interactions and must be successful in bringing the right people together and gaining agreement and alignment among them.
  • (S)he is a coach within the information systems organization, acting as a consultant to the consultants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field
  • SAP Certification
  • 5+ years’ expert knowledge of SAP S/4 HANA Finance, 5+ years expert knowledge of Project Systems, Fiori apps and at least 3 full cycle implementations

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong understanding in SAP PS for capital projects in mining and integration with other SAP modules, particularly, FI-CO, EAM (PM), MM
  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of SAP FI and PS modules to meet business requirements and improve financial processes.
  • Configure and maintain SAP FI system settings, including banking, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, and internal/external reporting.
  • Configure and maintain SAP PS system settings, including project profile, WBS elements, results analysis key, planning, investment, status and settlement profiles
  • Provide expert-level support for SAP FI and PS issues, including troubleshooting, problem resolution, and system upgrades.
  • Develop and execute test plans to ensure system changes are thoroughly validated and meet quality standards.
  • Strong experience in hybrid model of both projects and support environment
  • Exposure to COUPA and understanding of integration with S/4 HANA
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management principles and frameworks (ITIL)
  • Effective stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and reach agreement
  • Accustomed to working under pressure and managing planned and unplanned activities
  • Effective communicator and presenter
  • Global, cross-cultural work experience
