SAP BW Job Description

Responsibilities:

· Collaborate with business and IT teams to understand and address SAP BW & SAP BW-IP SAP BW-ABAP related requirements and issues.

· Key role in the analysis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and enhancement of SAP Business Warehouse applications and front-end reports.

· Work closely with business users to gather requirements and design functional specifications for data warehousing and reporting solutions.

· Maintain a clear understanding of the potential impacts of proposed solutions on other areas of the system and/or project.

· Implement and ensure adherence to architecture guidelines, security standards, and best practices in SAP BW solutions.

· Define and promote best practices for SAP BW and BI solutions.

· Ensure BW solutions align with major stakeholders' KPI standards and long-term roadmaps.

· Collaborate with the administration team for system maintenance, upgrades, and performance tuning.

· BW-ABAP is a must.

Skills

Domain

· Intermediate functional knowledge on the enterprise modules like Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain & Logistics, Quality, Customer relationship and Project Management

Technical

· 7-9 years of experience in SAP BW (BW 7.x, BW4HANA, BW on HANA) and reporting solutions.

· Strong experience in BW-IP

BW-IP Consultant

· Custom Planning Functions: Develop customized planning functions, filters, and planning sequences to meet specific business needs.

· Data Slices & Characteristic Relationships: Understand and implement concepts related to data slices and characteristic relationships.

· BW Input-Ready Queries: Creation and analysis of BW input-ready queries to support planning and analysis processes.

· Data Locking for Planning Sequences: Design and monitor data locks during the execution of planning sequences, ensuring that no data conflicts occur while multiple users are performing planning tasks.

· Performance Optimization of Locking: Ensure that locking mechanisms are optimized to minimize performance issues, particularly when dealing with large volumes of data in planning applications

· Expertise in ABAP for BW, including Start, End, Expert, and Field-level routines, as well as debugging skills.

BW-ABAP Consultant

· Data Modelling: Design and implement complex BW data models to support business requirements.

· Transformation & Loading: Configure and maintain transformation logic between data sources, ensuring smooth ETL processes.

· Performance Optimization: Optimize data load performance and ensure efficient data retrieval in the BW system.

· CR: Enhancements to Extractor: Further development and optimization of data extractors for actual data from ECC.

· Generic Extraction: Rework and transfer existing models into a new structure with independent thinking on transfer methodologies.

· ABAP Object-Oriented Programming (ABAP-OO): Design and develop central reusable objects.

· Functional Modules & Tables: Create and maintain functional modules and tables based on requirements.

· Debugging Expertise: In-depth knowledge and expertise in debugging ABAP code.

· Experience in gathering requirements for BI reporting solutions, including data visualization.

· Hands-on experience in BEx queries, including variables, customer exits, filters, conditions, and selections.

· Ability to document technical designs and BI solutions in high-level and detailed design documents.

· Good understanding of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Stories, dashboards and planning.

· SAP certification in BW is preferred.
