The SAP Application Operation Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and project implementation activities across SAP technical, development, and functional teams.
This role ensures the smooth operation, continuous improvement, and successful deployment of SAP systems while aligning with business objectives and IT standards.
Lead and coordinate SAP technical, development, and functional teams.
Conduct team meetings and performance reviews.
Foster collaboration across cross-functional groups.
Monitor SAP system performance and availability (ECC, S/4HANA, BW, etc.).
Oversee incident, problem, and change management processes.
Ensure timely resolution of tickets within SLAs.
Plan and manage SAP upgrades, rollouts, and new implementations.
Coordinate with PMO, business stakeholders, and vendors.
Deliver projects within timeline, scope, and budget.
Oversee SAP Basis, security, and technical infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and audits.
Manage system backups, patching, and performance tuning.
Review, prioritize, and manage change requests and custom development.
Coordinate with ABAP and integration teams.
Ensure changes follow SAP and development best practices.
Manage functional leads across SAP modules (FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, HCM, etc.).
Align SAP configuration with business processes.
Provide functional support to business users.
Serve as the single point of contact for SAP operations.
Provide updates, performance metrics, and escalate critical issues.
Ensure SAP systems comply with internal policies and regulations (SOX, GDPR, etc.).
Enforce change control and documentation standards.
Promote SAP best practices.
Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and process enhancement.
Maintain documentation and knowledge repositories.
Support team training and skill development.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Minimum 15 years of experience in SAP environments, with strong exposure to SAP operations, support, and project implementation.
Proven experience in leading and managing cross-functional SAP teams (technical, functional, and development).
Strong knowledge of SAP systems such as ECC, S/4HANA, BW, and related modules (e.g., FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, HCM).
Solid understanding of SAP Basis, system architecture, security, and technical infrastructure.
Experience in SAP project delivery, including upgrades, rollouts, and full lifecycle implementations.
Familiarity with IT service management processes (incident, problem, and change management) and SLA-driven environments.
Good understanding of compliance and governance standards (e.g., SOX, GDPR) and audit requirements.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage business users and senior management.
Experience working with external vendors and managing third-party service providers.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within tight timelines.
SAP certifications (e.g., S/4HANA, Basis, or relevant modules) will be an added advantage.
