Hours of Operation:
3rd Shift: 9:45 pm - 6:15 am

As part of the Food Safety Team at Makers Pride, the Sanitation Tech role is a critical foundational position to help ensure the production of safe wholesome foods. The qualified candidate will work with a variety of equipment to maintain cleanliness of the entire facility. The position consists of work which requires physical endurance and a willingness to perform manual tasks including working from heights on ladders and scissor lifts. Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule, mandatory overtime as needed and in a variety of operating conditions. We will train you help you be successful in this role. Follows procedures and SOPs to perform cleaning on production equipment to ensure safety and hygiene. May record information to reflect sanitation activities and issues. Advises/updates supervisor/manager of progress and or other non-routine issues.
Job Duties
May include, but are not limited to the following:
• Disassemble and reassemble critical equipment and pumps
• Understand equipment instructions, manuals, specifications, and safety requirements
• Read instruments and record all required data
• Maintain cleanliness of all work areas
• Remove trash and debris
• Follows established procedures in the cleaning and sanitation of idle production equipment.
• Wet washes rooms and production lines.
• Completes required reporting to reflect activity.
• Advises supervisor when supplies need to be ordered.
• Additional duties as assigned
Clean and sanitize the following areas:
• Mixing room
• Production areas
• Packaging areas
• Walls and Ceilings
• All equipment including elevated conveyors
• Exterior plant area as needed
• Perform food safety and quality testing including:
• Titration levels
• APC Swabs
• Allergen testing
• LRN Swabs
After training, safely operate:
• COP Tub
• Floor scrubber
• Pallet Jacks
• Boom lift
• Scissor lift

Required Competencies & Knowledge
Skills:
• Must be a self-starter
• Basic math skills to calculate and measure cleansers/sanitizers
• Sufficient English reading and writing skills in order to understand equipment instructions, standard operating procedures, and activity documentation.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good organizational skills

Ability to:
• Prioritize work schedules
• Must understand and follow all safety policies and procedures. This includes the ability to communicate and take direction from the Sanitation Group Lead and/or Sanitation Supervisor
• Work in a team environment
• Must understand and follow all safety policies and procedures
• Learn new tasks and methods of working
• Be on time and fully engaged at every shift you are scheduled
• Work in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment
• Work is primarily done in a production environment.
• Frequent production environment exposure includes noise, dust, dampness, moving machinery, fork lifts, and fluctuations in temperature and humidity.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
• Ability to lift excess of 50 lbs. up to 100 lbs. with assistance
• Ability to stand and walk up to 90% of the time
• Ability to climb, including on stairs
• Ability to work in hot, wet, and/or tight spaces
• Crawling and working on knees and ladders is required
• Ability to work at heights without disorientation
• Occasionally move up to 45-50 pounds with a hoist, pallet-jack or cart, and regularly lift up to 15 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• At least six months experience in a sanitation production environment preferred.

Starting Pay: Sanitation Technician $17.80/hr., a shift differential is offered for 3rd shift opportunities. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive based on company and individual performance. We offer a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees including health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the 90th day of employment.
