Sanitation Associate

Department: Market Operations

Reports To: Market Manager / Assistant Manager

Location: Graziano’s Markets

Classification: Hourly / Non-Exempt

Position Summary

Graziano’s Markets is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Sanitation Associate responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming environment for our guests and team members.

The Sanitation Associate performs daily cleaning and sanitation throughout the market, including guest areas, restrooms, employee areas, entrances, and other assigned spaces. This position plays an important role in maintaining Graziano’s standards for cleanliness, food safety, and overall store presentation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the market throughout the shift.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors as needed.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish paper products, soap, and other supplies.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste.
• Clean doors, windows, fixtures, counters, and other high-touch surfaces.
• Maintain cleanliness of employee areas, break areas, storage spaces, and other assigned areas.
• Regularly monitor guest areas and promptly clean spills or other potential safety hazards.
• Complete routine and scheduled deep-cleaning tasks.
• Maintain entrances, sidewalks, and surrounding exterior areas as assigned.
• Properly use, store, and maintain cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
• Monitor cleaning supplies and notify management when replenishment is needed.
• Report maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, leaks, or potential safety hazards to management.
• Follow all sanitation, food safety, workplace safety, and company procedures.
• Complete cleaning and sanitation checklists as required.
• Assist with additional cleaning and general upkeep duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous sanitation, cleaning, housekeeping, janitorial, grocery, restaurant, or retail experience preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Ability to manage multiple cleaning priorities throughout a busy shift.
• Comfortable working around guests, employees, and food-service areas.
• Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment according to instructions.
• Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active position requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movement throughout the shift.

Employees must be able to lift and carry cleaning supplies, trash, and other materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. The position may require working in indoor and outdoor areas and in varying temperatures.
