Job Description

At Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) our purpose is to 'open up the world for those who want to see'. Every day, we give people all around the world the opportunity to experience something amazing – travel!

Be the Technical Leader of our Global Salesforce team, setting the direction for how we design, build, release and support Salesforce across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Experience Cloud. Own the technical standards, the architecture and the delivery quality of a global team of developers and admins across global time zones, raising their capability through coaching, code review and clear decision-making. Stay hands-on where it matters most.

You'll report to the Global Technical Product Manager & Platform Owner and work closely with product, engineering, UX and business teams. You'll bring a keen eye for detail, a practical, hands-on approach to AI-assisted development, and the appetite to introduce it to a team that is just starting out, with security and quality first.

If you want to shape platform strategy, build a high-performing technical team and deliver work with real business impact, we'd like to hear from you!

What you'll lead

Team and technical leadership

  • Lead, mentor and develop the Global Salesforce technical team, with clear expectations, regular coaching and growth paths
  • Set and enforce technical standards, coding conventions and definition-of-done across the team
  • Run code reviews, pair programming and architecture reviews to build capability and keep quality high
  • Make and own the technical decisions on complex or contested problems, and explain the trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Contribute to the Salesforce technical roadmap and advise product on feasibility, sequencing and risk

Architecture and delivery

  • Lead solution design for Sales, Service and Experience Cloud, covering scalable, secure solutions that integrate with enterprise systems
  • Oversee data integration and migration, ensuring security compliance and data integrity
  • Lead testing strategy and automated testing, and own release readiness and post-deployment activities
  • Lead smooth handovers into support and provide technical leadership on post-deployment issues

Release governance and platform health

  • Own release management: deployment schedule, environments, version control and release governance, with the team executing day to day
  • Drive adoption of CI/CD, branching strategies and better tooling and methods
  • Identify and resolve inefficiencies, reduce technical debt and protect long-term platform sustainability

AI-assisted development: building the capability, security first

  • Introduce AI-assisted development to a team that is early in its journey, starting with a practical, low-risk pilot and expanding as confidence grows
  • Define the team's first AI usage guardrails with security and governance partners: what data can and cannot be used, approved tools, and review requirements for AI-generated code
  • Coach the team on using AI well (prompting, testing and reviewing AI output, spotting insecure or non-bulkified Apex) so productivity gains don't cost quality
  • Measure the impact (cycle time, defect rates, review effort) and report it back to the Platform Owner

Hands-on, where it counts

  • Build and configure solutions with Apex, Flow, Lightning Web Components and Lightning App Builder, especially on high-complexity or high-risk work and to set the standard for the team

You'll be a great fit if you have

Leadership (essential)

  • 6+ years of hands-on Salesforce development, including at least 2 years leading a team of developers or technical delivery
  • A track record of growing other engineers, with examples of people you've coached, standards you've introduced and conflicts you've resolved
  • Experience making and defending architecture decisions with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent communication with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong judgement in a fast-paced, global environment with competing priorities, and the initiative to drive progress

Technical (essential)

  • Strong Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL and Flow, with strong Apex debugging skills
  • Deep expertise in at least two of Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Experience Cloud, and working knowledge of the third
  • Experience designing and implementing Salesforce integrations
  • A strong understanding of Salesforce data architecture, security model, permissions and governance
  • Experience with CI/CD, environment branching strategies and tools such as Copado, GitHub and Salesforce testing and deployment tooling
  • A strong understanding of Agile methodologies
  • A commitment to secure coding practices and staying current on security best practice
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding tools in Salesforce development, with a clear view of the risks (data exposure, insecure generated code) and how to manage them
  • Platform Developer II certification

Nice to have

  • Experience introducing a new tool or practice to a team and driving adoption
  • Any of: Application Architect, Integration Architect, Sharing and Visibility Architect, Development Lifecycle and Deployment Architect, Experience Cloud Consultant, JavaScript Developer I
  • Experience building custom reports and data visualisations
  • Lightning Web Components experience for maintaining legacy components

About Flight Centre Travel Group

Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) is one of the world’s largest travel companies, employing 15,000 like-minded individuals – known as ‘Flighties’.

Our story dates to 1973, when founder Graham Turner (aka “Skroo") and friend Geoff “Spy” Lomas buy a double-decker bus and take off on their first tour around Spain, Portugal and Morrocco, 3 years later forming the first business, Top Deck. After flight deregulations in the 80s our first retail "Flight Centre" stores opened in Australia in 1982, London in 1984, and NZ in 1987.

1987 was also the year we held our first “Global Gathering” awards event celebrating our amazing people, a tradition that continues to this day.

And in 2025 we launched our very first loyalty program, World360 Rewards! Our Australian customers now able to earn and redeem points across Flight Centre, Travel Associates, and Cruiseabout.

We’re in our 40s now and a lot has changed! With global headquarters in Brisbane, Australia, our company owned leisure and corporate travel businesses span three major regions: APAC, The Americas and EMEA.

Our flagship corporate travel management brand, FCM, extends our reach even further through a network covering over 100 countries via both company-owned operations and independent licensees.

With 30 brands across our global footprint, our team spans from customer-facing to internal support roles. The opportunities just as diverse – from a Travel Consultant at Flight Centre or Envoyage, to a Machine Learning Scientist in one of our tech pillars.

Together, we live and breathe our number one philosophy, Our People, driven by our purpose ‘To open up the world for those who want to see’.

Our values are simple and powerful - Ownership, Egalitarianism and Irreverence.

We support our people with opportunities to help you thrive, connect, give, move and be rewarded. Our people have access to a suite of curated benefits to ensure holistic wellbeing – from mental and physical health to financial freedom.
