Job Description

The Salesforce Architect is the senior technical authority for the Salesforce platform and is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously evolving solutions across three enterprise instances. This role owns the full platform stack (data models, security frameworks, integration architectures, and governance) while delivering hands-on configuration and automation that directly supports business strategy and operational performance.

Essential Functions

  • Architecture & Solution Design
    • Design scalable, high-performance Salesforce solutions across all Salesforce enterprise instances.
    • Define data models, security frameworks, and integration architectures to ensure system integrity, performance, and long-term scalability.
    • Establish and enforces platform best practices, configuration standards, governance frameworks, and DevOps methodologies across all instances.
    • Identify business process changes and application architecture decisions needed to optimize Salesforce functionality across all service lines.
    • Define and validate non-functional technical requirements and ensures traceability between requirements and solution design.
  • Platform Administration & Configuration
    • Owns day-to-day administration across Salesforce environments: user provisioning, profiles, permission sets, permission set groups, role hierarchy, sharing rules, and field-level security.
    • Build and maintain advanced automation: Flows (Record-Triggered, Scheduled, Screen, Autolaunched), approval processes, and validation logic — architecting end-to-end declarative solutions without developer dependency where possible.
    • Manage sandbox environments, change management processes, release planning, and deployment coordination to ensure high-quality, low-risk delivery.
    • Monitor platform health, storage utilization, license usage, and system performance; proactively identifies and resolves issues.
    • Stay current on Salesforce releases and platform capabilities; advocates for AI solutions and new features to maintain well-architected solutions.
  • Integration & Data Management
    • Lead data migration and consolidation, including ID crosswalk mapping, legacy Attachment vs. ContentVersion file handling, and multi-system data reconciliation.
    • Design and implement integrations between Salesforce and external systems using REST/SOAP APIs and middleware platforms (Celigo, Make.com, or equivalent).
    • Manage inter-instance data flows, synchronization strategies, and API connectivity between RMF, BMFA, FieldFX, and enterprise systems including ADP and other HR/ERP platforms.
    • Evaluate data quality issues and define corrective actions; develop and maintain data governance documentation and quality dashboards.
  • Stakeholder Partnership & Team Development
    • Partners with business and technology stakeholders across all service lines translate operational requirements into effective, scalable Salesforce solutions.
    • Lead functional design sessions, define objectives and deliverables, and provide detailed level-of-effort estimates with risk and feasibility assessments.
    • Coordinate with the external Salesforce agency partner for advanced development escalations; manages scoping, prioritization, and project handoffs to ensure efficient retainer utilization.
    • Develop and mentor department admins across RMF, BMFA, and Capstone to build long-term internal capability and enforce consistent platform standards.
    • Drive platform adoption through user enablement, onboarding, training initiatives, SOPs, and platform documentation.

Qualifications

This is the most senior and technically demanding Salesforce position at Rural Metro Fire, a Brindlee Fire Services company. Candidates must hold advanced Salesforce certifications or demonstrate equivalent depth of hands-on experience across architecture, administration, and integration. We are looking for a proven solution architect, not a generalist administrator.

  • Required
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.
    • 7+ years of CRM industry experience with the majority focused on Salesforce architecture, solution design, and implementation.
    • Salesforce Certified Administrator (ADM 201) required; active and current.
    • Deep expertise in Salesforce solution architecture: data modeling, security frameworks, integration design, and multi-instance environment strategy.
    • Advanced proficiency in Salesforce automation: Flows (Record-Triggered, Scheduled, Screen, Autolaunched), approval processes, and declarative solution architecture.
    • Expert command of the Salesforce security model: profiles, permission sets, permission set groups, sharing rules, role hierarchy, and field-level security across multiple orgs.
    • Expert-level data management: Data Loader, SOQL/SOSL query authorship, bulk operations, deduplication strategy, and cross-object relationship design.
    • Experience designing and implementing REST/SOAP API integrations and managing data exchange with third-party systems and middleware platforms.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to lead design sessions and translate complex technical decisions for non-technical stakeholders.
    • Up-to-date knowledge of Salesforce releases, roadmap, and industry best practices.
  • Preferred Certifications and Experience
    • Salesforce Certified Application Architect or System Architect — or active progress toward the Architect certification track.
    • Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I or II — or demonstrated hands-on experience with Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and Visualforce development.
    • Salesforce Platform App Builder, Sales Cloud Consultant, or Field Service Consultant — or demonstrated equivalent hands-on experience in each domain.
    • Experience with integration middleware (Celigo, MuleSoft, or similar) and managing bi-directional data flows between Salesforce and enterprise systems.
    • Familiarity with DevOps practices: SFDX, Git version control, and CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce deployments.
    • Experience with CPQ, subscription billing, or contract lifecycle management platforms.
    • Experience directing external Salesforce consulting partners: scoping work, reviewing deliverables, and managing retainer relationships.
    • Background in fire services, emergency services, or subscription-based service industries is a plus.

Position Conditions

  • On-site, full-time position based in Huntsville, AL
  • Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required to support system migrations, releases, or critical platform issues.
  • Limited travel to company sites, partner locations, or industry events as needs arise.
  • Must be able to manage multiple concurrent priorities across business units and deliver under deadline.
