Why does this role exist?
This role exists to reduce technical debt in a mature Salesforce org by consolidating complex or redundant automations, rules, and formula fields to improve stability and performance. The consultant will support UAT and bug/performance troubleshooting while producing comprehensive system documentation to enable knowledge sharing and prevent future debt. After the documentation phase, the consultant will transition into project-based delivery, partnering with a project manager to design and build scalable Salesforce solutions.

The Impact you’ll make

Technical debt reduction and org optimization

  • Audit, consolidate, and refactor redundant automations (Flows, Process Builder, Workflow Rules), validation rules, and formula fields to simplify the org and improve performance
  • Standardize naming conventions, guardrails, and best practices to prevent future debt
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement configuration changes to reduce save times and errors

UAT support and troubleshooting

  • Create or refine UAT plans and test scripts; guide business users through UAT
  • Triage, reproduce, and resolve platform bugs and performance issues
  • Track defects to closure and document root causes and fixes

Documentation and knowledge sharing

  • Organize docs for easy consumption (e.g., Confluence) with diagrams, runbooks, and change logs
  • Establish documentation standards to lower the risk of future technical debt

Progress reporting and metrics

  • Define and report on key metrics that demonstrate debt reduction (e.g., automation count reduction, improved record save times/page load, decreased error rates)
  • Provide regular, stakeholder-friendly updates on progress, risks, and next steps

Project delivery (post-documentation)

  • Partner with a project manager to translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Build scalable, declarative Salesforce solutions aligned with best practices
  • Proactively claim tasks from a dedicated queue and deliver on time
