Job Description

This role in the S&EM APAC Origination team will capitalize on the exciting opportunities arising in the Japan markets from the ongoing energy transition. It involves working with a diverse range of structured contracts, including oil, gas, power, and carbon/renewable products.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Identify and deliver revenue by originating transactions and business opportunities with clients in the Japan across energy & power derivatives and green solutions
  • Quote prices and execute trades with clients in various commodity products for clients in Japan
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and exceptional customer service.
  • Develop innovative ideas to assist clients in their risk management in a complex and fast-moving environment.
  • Stay updated on industry news, events, and market movements to provide timely information and insights to clients.
  • Prepare concise and compelling presentations and reports, leveraging excellent spreadsheet skills.
  • Collaborate with different support teams such as KYC/Credit/Legal on the onboarding process

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics with 3 to 5 years’ of relevant experience in a trading/banking environment.
  • Possess existing relationships with key energy and power players in Japan. Similar exposure in rest of APAC will be an added advantage.
  • Possess experience with global markets products, preferably commodity derivatives for corporate clients
  • Proven track record of success in the development, negotiation and management of client facing origination activities.
  • Solid understanding of energy trading
  • Experience in negotiating structured contracts and underlying financing arrangements of energy projects will be a distinct advantage.
  • Be conversant in English and Japanese. Able to work with international teams
