Examples of duties

This position supports daily store operations by guiding clerks and helping maintain smooth and efficient service. It combines leadership, customer support, and hands-on duties across many areas of store activity. As a Liquor Store Clerk 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Customer Support: Assist customers by greeting them, helping them find products, and offering solutions when items are not available
• Inventory Checks: Take daily spot counts and update records to reflect overages, shortages, or breakage
• Store Procedures: Ensure staff follow opening and closing routines, secure money and systems, and prepare the store for the next business day
• Cash Handling: Manage cash by counting funds, controlling access to the safe, and preparing bank deposits
• Register Operations: Use point of sale tools, verify customer eligibility, resolve errors, and process sales accurately
• Merchandising Tasks: Lead stocking, build displays, and ensure products are organized and handled safely

• Full-time employment
• Work hours will vary, totaling 75 hours biweekly.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: The starting salary for this position for new Commonwealth employees is fixed at the minimum salary listed above and is not negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Six months as a Liquor Store Clerk 1 or Intermittent Liquor Store Clerk (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Six months of retail sales work.

Other Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation. An applicant with a felony conviction within the last ten years of their prospective date of employment is not permitted to work for the PLCB, per section 210(c) of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code. Other criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
