The Sales Specialist – Residential Buildings Market Segment is responsible for driving the sales and growth of ABB’s Residential Electrification portfolio. Operating within the Residential Buildings market segment, the role is accountable for achieving sales, profitability, market share growth, and customer satisfaction objectives in alignment with divisional strategy.

The incumbent develops and strengthens relationships with key channel partners and end customers, including distributors, wholesalers, electrical contractors, builders, developers, and property managers. Through a consultative, value-based approach, the Sales Specialist drives new business, expands market reach, and positions ABB solutions to meet evolving customer needs. Success requires strong commercial acumen, territory planning, accurate forecasting, and consistent business results.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid
This role is contributing to the Electrification, Smart Power, Smart Building business unit in Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales of ABB residential electrification products, systems, and services, achieving volume, mix, profitability, and growth targets within the residential construction market.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with distributors, wholesalers, electrical contractors, builders, developers, property managers, and end customers to expand ABB's market presence and generate specification opportunities.

  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities by understanding customer needs and positioning ABB's complete portfolio of solutions.

  • Create and execute territory sales strategies, leveraging ABB sales tools and CRM systems to manage activities, opportunities, and customer engagement.

  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and forecast, conduct regular business reviews, and implement recovery plans to address potential performance gaps.

  • Deliver value-driven proposals, quotations, contracts, and commercial agreements, ensuring all technical, financial, pricing, and contractual requirements are met.

  • Provide an exceptional customer experience throughout the sales cycle, including communication of delivery schedules, payment terms, and commercial conditions in accordance with ABB policies.

  • Support marketing initiatives, promote ABB's value proposition, and monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to identify growth opportunities and inform business strategy.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor by applying strong technical expertise in residential electrical products while supporting administrative, project management, and cash collection activities as required.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of sales experience in the electrical, construction, or related industry, with experience in the residential construction market considered an asset.

  • Strong technical knowledge of residential electrical products and applications; hands-on experience as an electrician, technician, or in a related technical role is an advantage.

  • Proven success selling through distribution and contractor channels and developing new business opportunities.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop sales strategies, manage a territory, and achieve business growth objectives.

  • Strong CRM, account management, forecasting, planning, and business development capabilities.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, organizational, and relationship-building skills, with a focus on delivering a positive customer experience.

  • Effective collaborator who works cross-functionally with sales, marketing, product management, operations, and service teams to achieve business objectives.

  • Self-motivated team player who promotes knowledge sharing, accountability, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration while delivering individual and team results.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $90,000 and $120,000 annually and is bonus eligible.
