Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead and execute the sales support strategy for Process Industries, aligning local initiatives with ABB’s global business objectives and growth ambitions.

Each day, you will provide technical and commercial leadership to support both internal and external customers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality proposals and solutions. You will demonstrate your expertise by overseeing bid, estimation, and proposal activities, driving compliance with ABB standards, improving win rates and profitability, and coaching and developing a high-performing Sales Support team.


The work model for the role is: Onsite

This role contributes to ABB’s Process Industries Division across Australia and the Pacific Islands, driving excellence in sales support, customer engagement, and commercial performance.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Leading and developing the Spares, Bids and Proposals teams, fostering a high-performance culture focused on customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

  • Defining key performance targets and ensuring their achievement by monitoring progress, driving corrective actions, and enhancing customer support and service delivery outcomes.

  • Establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving RFQ, pricing, governance, and bid management processes to ensure consistency, compliance, and operational efficiency.

  • Driving the development of competitive, commercially sound proposals by evaluating market conditions, customer requirements, and the most effective delivery models, including direct sales, partnerships, consortiums, and channel strategies.

  • Overseeing the review and validation of commercial, technical, legal, and pricing terms within customer offers, while supporting bid/no-bid assessments and strategic decision-making.

  • Participating in project risk reviews and providing technical and commercial guidance throughout the sales process, ensuring Sales teams are equipped to successfully engage customers through presentations, negotiations, and solution discussions.


Qualifications for the role

  • Proven leadership experience in sales operations, bids, proposals, or commercial teams within process industries such as mining, metals, minerals, energy, or heavy industry.

  • Strong background in sales, business development, or commercial management within automation, electrification, digitalisation, or process control environments.

  • Experience developing and optimising sales systems, governance processes, and performance metrics in high-volume, customer-focused organisations.

  • Sound technical knowledge of industrial automation and electrification solutions, including DCS, PLCs, drives, process control systems, and digital technologies.

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify opportunities, negotiate contracts, manage profitability, and drive business growth.

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline, with excellent communication, stakeholder management, and people leadership skills.
