This position is based at Accor's flagship Canberra hotel, Novotel Canberra, a 286-room property in the heart of the city, directly opposite the light rail. We are seeking a commercially minded and results-driven Sales & Marketing Manager to lead our sales, marketing, business development and conference & events functions. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth, market share and brand presence across corporate, government and leisure segments.

Leading a talented commercial team, the Sales & Marketing Manager will develop and execute strategies that generate new business, strengthen client relationships, grow revenue and enhance the hotel's presence within the Canberra market.

In this high-impact role, you will:

  • Lead, mentor and develop team members across Sales, Marketing and Conference & Events, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans across corporate, government and leisure markets
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities while strengthening existing client relationships
  • Work closely with Revenue Management to maximise hotel performance, yield and profitability
  • Drive digital marketing, e-commerce and promotional campaigns that deliver measurable results
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer insights to identify growth opportunities
  • Lead and support the Conference & Events function, working closely with operational teams to maximise conversion, deliver exceptional client experiences and grow events revenue
  • Manage key account portfolios, networking opportunities, industry partnerships and stakeholder relationships
  • Prepare and analyse sales, marketing and ROI reports to ensure performance targets are achieved
  • Collaborate with the broader leadership team to support hotel-wide initiatives and champion Accor's culture

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Sales & Marketing leadership role, ideally within hotels, hospitality or a related industry
  • Demonstrated success leading sales, marketing and business development functions in hospitality, hotels or a related industry
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, e-commerce, online distribution and market segmentation
  • Experience developing and leading high-performing teams
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts and delivering measurable ROI
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to analyse market trends and translate insights into effective business plans
  • A collaborative leadership style with a demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop teams
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills and a customer-focused mindset
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple priorities
  • Strong knowledge of the Canberra market and government/corporate sectors will be highly regarded
  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Business, Hospitality or a related field are favourable
