Sales Manager, Nordics – Energy and Infrastructure

Role description and key responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Energy & Infrastructure, North & Central Europe, you will lead commercial activities across Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland, being part of the North & Central Europe leadership team. You will manage and develop seven experienced sales professionals, setting clear direction and driving sustainable growth and profitability.

As a people-oriented leader, you will build a high-performing team and translate business objectives into results. You will execute the Nordic sales strategy, focusing on customer growth, new business, market penetration, and commercial excellence. You will also support Hempel’s Double Impact strategy and relevant Energy segment customer activities through cross-functional collaboration.

The role is based in the Nordics and involves regional travel.

Key responsibilities

Leadership and team development

  • Lead, coach, and develop seven sales professionals.
  • Set clear priorities, empower ownership, and build a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous development.
  • Manage performance, develop talent, and lead through change.

Commercial strategy and performance

  • Develop and execute the Nordic sales strategy.
  • Own regional revenue, profitability, sales budgets, commercial performance and delivering against targets.
  • Drive growth through customer development, new business, and channel management.
  • Strengthen pricing, margins, and commercial decision-making.
  • Monitor performance, identify risks and opportunities, and drive sustainable results.

Customer relationships and collaboration

  • Build strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and senior stakeholders.
  • Drive value-based selling and long-term customer relationships.
  • Collaborate across functions and business segments to maximise opportunities.
  • Understand customer needs and market developments.

Commercial excellence and operations

  • Ensure effective pipeline management, forecasting, and business reviews.
  • Use KPIs and insights to improve performance and decision-making.
  • Implement commercial initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain high standards of customer satisfaction, compliance, and ethical conduct.

Key success criteria

  • Achieve sales and profitability targets.
  • Deliver sustainable growth and execute the Nordic sales strategy.
  • Develop team performance, engagement, and talent.
  • Strengthen customer relationships and market penetration.
  • Maintain effective forecasting, pipeline management, and commercial discipline.
  • Ensure strong collaboration and compliance with company policies.

Required education, experience, and skills

Leadership

  • At least three years of people management experience, with proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams.
  • Ability to empower experienced professionals, build high-performing teams, and manage change and competing priorities.

Commercial experience

  • At least five years of relevant experience in sales, commercial management, business development, marketing, industrial B2B or project-driven markets as advantageous
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including revenue, profitability, pricing, and cost management.
  • Proven ability to execute commercial strategies and deliver measurable results.
  • Customer-focused, proactive, and results-oriented approach.

Communication and collaboration

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and countries, influence others, and challenge constructively.
  • Fluency in English and at least one Nordic language.
