• Location: Farmington Hills, Michigan
• Pay: $26.00 per hour
• Program start: Tuesday, May 25, 2027, with limited flexibility for academic calendars
• Duration: 10 weeks, with the possibility of extending up to two additional weeks based on business needs and intern availability
• Schedule: Full time, 40 hours per week, on site

Help Connect Customer Needs with Manufacturing Solutions

As a Sales Intern at MacLean-Fogg, you will learn how a manufacturing business understands customer needs, builds relationships, and turns product knowledge into useful solutions. You will work alongside sales and cross-functional teams to research opportunities, organize information, and support informed customer conversations.

You will take ownership of a meaningful project with guidance from an experienced team. Depending on your assignment, you might research a market, improve a sales report, organize customer information, or support a proposal. At the end of the program, you will present your work, findings, and recommendations to leadership.

Sales Areas You Could Explore

Assignments vary by location and may include:

• Customer and Account Support: Help teams prepare for customer conversations, organize follow-up, and understand account needs.
• Market Research and Business Development: Research industries, customer needs, competitors, and potential opportunities.
• Sales Operations and CRM: Improve the accuracy and usefulness of customer records, activity tracking, and sales processes.
• Sales Analytics and Forecasting Support: Organize sales data, identify patterns, and help prepare reports for team review.
• Quoting, Proposals, and Product Support: Work with sales, engineering, operations, or finance to gather information for quotes, presentations, and proposals.

You do not need prior experience in these areas. Not every assignment is available at every location.

What You Will Do

• Learn about our products, customers, and the manufacturing processes relevant to your assignment.
• Research customer needs and market opportunities using reliable information.
• Gather and check information for customer presentations, quotes, or proposals under team guidance.
• Maintain accurate customer and opportunity information in approved tools.
• Use spreadsheets or reporting tools to analyze sales activity and communicate findings.
• Collaborate with sales and other functions to understand customer requirements and follow up on questions.
• Protect confidential customer and business information and confirm information before making commitments.
• Organize your work, communicate progress, and take ownership of a project with coaching from your team.
• Follow facility safety requirements and present your project results and recommendations.

What You Bring

• Enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in business administration, sales, marketing, economics, communications, engineering, or a closely related field.
• Interest in business-to-business sales, customer relationships, and manufacturing.
• Willingness to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and learn about technical products.
• A practical approach to analyzing information, checking details, and solving problems.
• Ability to organize your work, communicate clearly, and collaborate with people in different roles.
• Availability for a full-time, on-site summer internship. Limited start-date flexibility may be available for academic calendars.

All college class levels are welcome. Previous internship experience is not required. Coursework, projects, volunteering, student activities, customer service, retail, and other jobs can demonstrate your potential.

Helpful, but Not Required

• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Coursework or projects involving sales, marketing, market research, business analytics, or technical products.
• Experience using Excel or another tool to organize and analyze information.
• Experience listening to customer needs, preparing presentations, coordinating activities, or maintaining accurate records.
• Exposure to a customer relationship management (CRM) system through coursework, projects, or work.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The physical demands below represent those required to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Work at a computer for extended periods and use standard office technology.
• Communicate and exchange information with colleagues and other people involved in assigned work.
• Move between office and manufacturing areas as needed for the assignment.
• Wear required personal protective equipment in designated manufacturing areas, which may include safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
• Work primarily in an office environment, with visits to manufacturing areas where noise and temperature variation may be present.

What to Expect After Applying
