The Sales Engineer is responsible for selling, promoting, pricing and business development efforts, Regionally/Nationally. They are responsible for achieving our global goals and objectives by identifying and communicating customers’ needs and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively seeks new business opportunities to identify and develop new business to expand sales and market penetration in their market segment

  • Coordinate global strategies, targets, metrics and tracking to ensure growth

  • Meets with customers and prospects in their assigned territory to identify customer needs and requirements, maintain, develop and grow relationships, develop proposals and present Allison Off Highway’s capabilities.

  • Initiate inquiries, prepares quote and proposals, negotiate prices and close deals.

  • Proficient in the utilization of Allison Off Highway best practice sales, pricing and negotiation processes, and procedures.

  • Utilizes Allison Off Highway systems and procedures for inquiries, proposals and CRM

  • Maintain customer records, sales forecasts and publish call reports in the CRM

  • Perform account management with customers and prospects in their assigned market segment

  • Monitor and report customer and competitor activity and changes in market conditions in their assigned market segment

  • Monitor and drive daily and monthly forecasts and sales for Allison Off Highway AOR

  • Meet and exceed the financial/sales goals for their market segment

  • Account responsibility will include customers in their market segment

  • Manage various projects and assignments, short and long term

Competencies:

  • Highly self-motivated and results oriented individual

  • Forecasting, projecting future business.  Understanding Off-Highway OEM reactions to market variables

  • Selling, negotiations and closing skills and ability to influence decision making at all levels or an organization

  • Professional verbal and written communications skills to be able to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations

  • Ability to effectively interact at all levels of the customers and Allison Off Highway organizations

  • Ability to juggle and meet various technical, sales, Program Management and forecasting deadlines

  • Experience in mobile equipment, construction machinery, electrodynamic products (electric motors / Inverters), and power transmission markets or related experience with similar technical products

  • Direct related engineering experience in make to print gears and custom gears and gearboxes a plus

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products, proficiency in excel and PPT

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Sales, Marketing or equivalent. Degree(s) in Engineering preferred

  • 7+ years direct sales experience and/or engineering experience

  • Strong communication, negotiation and analytical skills

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively and accurately

Travel:

Ability to travel (approx. 50% of time, mostly in North America)
