Job Description

The Sales Engineer prepares and delivers technical presentations explaining products and services to existing and prospective customers. This role partners with engineering and construction teams to assess equipment needs, determine system requirements, and assist in the design and development of technical solutions for construction and telecommunications projects. The Sales Engineer serves as a technical expert throughout the sales lifecycle, supporting opportunity development, solution design, and implementation.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers explaining products, services, and solutions.
  • Translate customer requirements into technical solutions and system designs.
  • Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to assess equipment needs and determine system requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of IoT devices, integrations, and analytics to review complex projects and translate Statements of Work (SOW).
  • Identify appropriate vendors, equipment, and business partners to support sales opportunities.
  • Attend meetings, trade events, and public forums to represent Hotwire Communications as a technical expert.
  • Support post-sale activities by collaborating with leadership to identify upsell and revenue expansion opportunities.
  • Design solutions and create Bills of Materials (BOM) for high-level financial modeling and go/no-go decisions.
  • Qualify subcontractors and manage contractor teams during implementation phases.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop technical content, research, and talking points.
  • Attend sales meetings as the technical subject matter expert.
  • Review technical documentation and ensure accuracy of technical descriptions.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Engineering, Telecommunications, or Computer Science At least 3 years of working experience in telecommunications industry affecting business sales growth and account management.
  • Demonstrated ability and keen understanding of short-term and long-term sales plans with the ability to manage process through acquisition and implementation.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a high-pressure environment to ensure deadlines are met pre and post-sale.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation to various locations in organizational service area.
