Job Description

How you will make an impact
Building on Opensignal’s continued momentum across the Middle East and Africa, this role is a critical investment in accelerating our growth in Africa. The Sales Director will take ownership of winning new business across priority markets while laying the foundation for long-term expansion supported by Opensignal’s expanding product portfolio.
The primary objective of the role is to drive new-logo acquisition and rapid pipeline development, expanding Opensignal’s customer base across the territory. In parallel, the role will deliver incremental revenue growth from existing customers as relationships mature. Working closely with the Regional VP Sales and the wider regional team, the Sales Director will lead front-line commercial execution and establish Opensignal as the partner of choice for network connectivity intelligence in Africa.

Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy

  • Develop and execute a new-logo acquisition plan to penetrate priority African markets, identifying, qualifying, and advancing high-value prospects with urgency and discipline.
  • Own the full business development lifecycle, from target account mapping and senior-stakeholder engagement through to deal structuring, negotiation, and close.
  • Aggressively drive new customer wins and pipeline creation, leveraging both direct selling and selected channel/partner models to accelerate market entry.
  • Position Opensignal’s differentiated network intelligence proposition to C-suite and senior technical leaders, converting strategic conversations into qualified commercial opportunities.
  • Build market momentum by securing lighthouse customers that establish credibility and unlock broader regional expansion.
  • Work closely with Product, Marketing, and Leadership teams to tailor messaging, sharpen use cases, and ensure rapid feedback loops from the field to HQ.
  • Transition winning accounts into scalable growth mode, laying the foundation for structured account management and expansion post- acquisition.
  • Execute an effective account management strategy to maintain and grow the business with existing customers.

Sales Performance

  • Develop and execute a territory plan to maximize revenue for Opensignal from the addressable market.
  • Execute strategic campaigns with key decision makers to achieve new client wins.
  • Build long-term, trust-based relationships with C-level decision-makers to drive executive alignment, expand pipeline, and close strategic deals.
  • Work with relevant industry stakeholders that can help to influence the market and sales opportunities e.g. regulators, NEMs, consultants.
  • Lead negotiation of business contracts.
  • Contribute to the global success of Opensignal, through close working relationships with other members of the sales team and supporting business unit.
  • Deliver results which exceed sales targets for the region.

Desired Skills & Abilities

  • Proven track record as a quota-carrying sales contributor with consistent success in achieving and exceeding sales targets and business goals.
  • Extensive experience selling SaaS solutions to telecom operators using a consultative, direct-sales approach.
  • Deep expertise in the African mobile and broadband telecommunications market, with a proven network of senior-level (C-suite and VP) relationships across operators, vendors, and ecosystem partners.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Africa telecom landscape, including regulatory frameworks, market dynamics, and regional business practices, with the ability to navigate multi-country sales cycles effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in both new business development (from prospecting to close) and account growth (expanding existing customer revenues).
  • Skilled in operating both strategically and tactically, with the ability to plan, forecast, and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a solid grasp of financial processes, business modeling, and structured sales methodologies.
  • Technically fluent in mobile networks (RAN, Core), customer experience, network performance metrics, and operational processes — capable of handling early-stage sales discussions independently.
  • Fluent in English, Arabic and French.
  • Willing and able to travel across Africa (~50% as needed).

Personal Characteristics

  • Entrepreneurial, ambitious, and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership
  • High integrity and strong commitment to excellence
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and executive presence
  • Commercially savvy with sharp business acumen
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and solutions-oriented
  • Clear, direct communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
  • Creative thinker with strong attention to detail and a focus on execution
